ODAC Players of the Week

Davis a junior from McLean, Va., tossed a complete-game shutout in a 5-0 win over No. 17 Tufts. He allowed just six singles, did not walk a batter and struck out five in finishing his first complete game to improve to 2-1 on the season. He lowered his earned run average to 6.17 following his best outing of the season.

Mason, a sophomore from Sterling, Va., carried the BC offense this past week as the Eagles finished with a 3-1 record, 3-0 in the conference. Mason was 3-for-4 with a pair of homers and five RBI in a 10-1 win over EMU. A day later he was 2-for-3 with two more homers and three RBI in a 13-12 loss to nationally-ranked Shenandoah. In a doubleheader sweep over Randolph-Macon, Mason was 6-for-10 with five RBI and a pair of doubles. For the week, Mason finished with a .647 batting average (11-for-17) with six runs scored, 13 RBI, four homers and two doubles. He had an on-base percentage of .700 and a slugging percentage of 1.470.

Wyndorf, a senior from Chadds Ford, Va., tied for 18th as the top ODAC finisher at the ultra-competitive Jekyll Island Intercollege Invitational last week. He posted a three-over par 219 over three rounds. He carded a 69 in the first round, putting him into a tie for the lead at that point. He finished with rounds of 74 and 76 to match the total of three other players.

Lumpkin, a senior from Baltimore, Md., helped lead Washington and Lee to a 2-0 week by recording 24 saves with just 15 goals allowed in the two games. In a 13-7 victory over Kenyon on Tuesday, Lumpkin totaled 10 saves with just seven goals allowed. He followed that on Saturday with a career-high 14 saves (eight goals allowed) in a 9-8 win over 13th-ranked Hampden-Sydney. For the season, Lumpkin has recorded a .584 save percentage and a 6.68 goals-against average.

Pugh, a senior from Augusta, Ga., started off the week by breezing to a 6-0, 6-1 win against Ferrum at #1 singles, and then took care of business in 8-0 fashion at #2 doubles. In a match featuring two of the best singles players in the ODAC, Pugh downed W&L’s Hayden White (ranked 10th in the Atlantic South Region by the ITA) 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 singles. Pugh and his teammate fell 5-8 in No. 1 doubles against the Generals.

Smith, a freshman from Conyers, Ga., ran the fastest outdoor Division III 100-meters time in the nation (10.75) to qualify for the finals at the Wake Forest Open this past week, provisionally qualifying for the NCAA championships in the process. He finished seventh in the finals with a 10.84-second dash, tops among NCAA Division III competition. His 10.75 is the second-fastest time in school history. Smith ran a 22.12 in the 200-meter dash, which placed 24th overall and No. 1 amongst D-III athletes. It is the second-fastest time in Guilford history. Smith finished his day by running the second leg for Guilford’s 400-meter relay team that finished 19th with a time of 45.05.

Graves, a sophomore from Christiansburg, Va., won a pair of individual events and helped Roanoke to two relay victories as the Roanoke Invitational over the weekend. Graves won the triple jump with a leap of 11.10 meters (36'4.5"), and added a victory in the long jump at 5.07 meters (16'7"). She also competed in the 200-meter dash, placing third with a time of 26.94 seconds. Graves helped the Maroons to wins in the 4x100-meters (51.34) and 4x400-meters (4:13.59) relays.

Lee, a junior from Buckingham, Va., picked up EMU’s first five ODAC wins as the team started the conference slate 6-0. In Wednesday’s extra-inning win at Bridgewater, she entered the game in relief in the fifth inning and limited the Eagles to two hits over the final four innings, including getting a double play to end the game. She took both wins Saturday against Guilford as well, striking out six in the 8-2 win in game one before throwing 5-2/3 innings without an earned run in the eight-inning nightcap. For the week, Lee went 5-0 in her five appearances with a 1.60 ERA over 30-2/3 innings. She also struck out 16 as she limited some of the ODAC’s top teams.

Rainey, sophomore from Sandston, Va., helped the Maroons to a 6-0 record over the past week, extending their winning streak to 13 games. Rainey went 10-for-19 (.526), registering a pair of three-hit contests. She also drew three walks out of the lead-off spot. Rainey's speed was her biggest asset as she swiped 10 bases, including a program-record six in the second game of a deuce with Meredith over the weekend. She ended the week scoring 13 runs while driving in one other. She also collected a pair of doubles. Rainey is currently second in the ODAC with 18 stolen bases in 20 chances.

Rourke, a senior from Greenwich, Conn., scored nine goals and dished out two assists for 11 points in two games last week. She also won eight draw controls and collected four groundballs. She had the game-winning goal against CNU after winning the draw control to cap a four-goal, two-assist day for the Maroons in a 13-12 victory. She scored a team-best five goals with six draw controls in a 17-13 defeat to #8 Cortland St earlier in the week. Rourke is currently second on the team with 28 points on 22 goals and six assists.

Taylor, a freshman from Springfield, Va., helped the Vixens to a trio of 8-1 team victories by going undefeated at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. Taylor opened with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Richard Stockton's top competitor, and followed that up with 6-0, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-0 results over Millsaps' and Concordia's No. 1 singles players. Taylor and partner Moriah Burke surrendered just three points in doubles action, defeating their top ladder opponents 8-2, 8-0 and 8-1. Taylor is currently the 20th rated singles player in the Atlantic South Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). She and Burke sit ninth in the ITA's Atlantic South Region doubles rankings.
