BASEBALL
ANDY RICHTER, Eastern Mennonite, Junior,
Pitcher
Richter, a junior from Perkasie, Pa.,
threw his second straight complete game victory on Sunday as he
completed his ODAC-leading fourth complete game. He allowed just
one earned run and struck out 11 batters in a 9-2 win over Roanoke.
The 11 strikeouts are a career high as the junior has lowered his
ERA by 1.30 over his past two games. Richter finishes his season
with career bests in most pitching categories. He also leads the
ODAC in complete games, innings pitched and starts, and is tied for
the league-lead with 58 strikeouts.

BASEBALL
CHRIS MARTIN, Hampden-Sydney, Senior,
Shortstop
Martin, a senior from Chesterfield,
Va., hit over .500 for the week recording 11 hits in 21 at bats in
the Tigers’ five games. He started off the week with a
3-for-4 performance with three runs, one RBI, a double and a stolen
base against Greensboro. Two days later, he went 2-for-4 with one
run, one RBI, one double and two stolen bases. He tallied two more
hits on a double and a triple against Roanoke. In the Tigers’
season finale against Randolph-Macon, Martin bounced back from a
1-for-5 performance in the first game by going 3-for-3 in the
second game, despite being hit in his first three at bats of the
game. In the 12-8 win, Martin scored three runs while batting in
three others. On the week, he scored seven runs while batting in
six, hit four doubles, one triple, and stole three bases.

GOLF
NOAH RATNER, Guilford,
Sophomore
Ratner, a sophomore from Asheville,
N.C., led Guilford to a fourth-place team finish at the Emory
Spring Invitational at Stonemont Golf Course in Stone Mountain, Ga.
He fired rounds of 73 and 77 to finish in a tie for eighth overall
with a 10-over-par 150. Ratner leads the nationally top-ranked
Quakers into the 2011 ODAC Golf Championship April 18-20 at Bay
Creek Resort & Club in Cape Charles, Va. Guilford owns a 297.4
team average, tops in the conference. Ratner boasts the ODAC best
individual stroke average at 73.1, leading a Quakers' squad in
which all five of its tournament players average 77.4 strokes per
round or fewer.

MEN'S LACROSSE
JEFF KEATING, Roanoke, Junior,
Attack
Keating, a junior from Chatham, N.J.,
picks up his second straight ODAC weekly award. Keating scored six
goals with two assists for eight points in a come-from-behind 17-15
win over Hampden-Sydney as the Maroons clinched their
third-straight ODAC regular season title. He scored five of his
goals in the second half, including a pair in RC's nine-goal fourth
quarter in which it erased a 14-8 deficit to top the Tigers. The
Maroons are 11-3 on the year and ranked eighth in the USILA Top-20
Poll.

MEN'S TENNIS
TYLER MERCIER, Guilford, Freshman, No. 1
Singles, No. 1 Doubles
Mercier, a freshman from Bennington,
Neb, picks up his second weekly award of the season. Mercier went
3-1 in two matches for the Quakers, earning a two-set victory over
Hampden-Sydney College’s Shad Harrell at No. 1 singles. He
continued at the top position and won a three-set decision over
Roanoke College’s Jon Roy. Alongside Clayton Hamilton,
Mercier went 1-1 in doubles action with an 8-4 win over the top
pair from Hampden-Sydney and an 8-5 loss to the top pair from
Roanoke. Mercier extended his ODAC singles win streak to six
matches.

OUTDOOR TRACK
JOHNATHAN SMITH, Guilford, Freshman,
Sprints
Smith, a freshman from Conyers, Ga.,
earns his second ODAC weekly honor of the season. He ran the
ODAC’s fastest time this season in the 200-meter dash,
placing second in a 27-man field at the High Point VertKlasse
Meeting in 21.80, the fastest time in school history. His time
broke the previous mark of 21.9, set by David Sheppard in 1971.
Smith had the top Division III finish in the race, and also placed
third among 21 runners in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.97
seconds, his third sub-11 second time of the season in the
discipline. He missed the win by three-hundredths of a second.
Smith currently owns the nation's 10th-best 100-meter time of 10.75
seconds set earlier this year. His 21.80 200-meter time is just .04
seconds from provisionally qualifying for nationals and cracking
the nation's top-ten.

OUTDOOR TRACK
ASHLEY ALLEN, Lynchburg, Senior,
Throws
Allen, a senior from Richmond, Va.,
broke her own school record in the hammer with a heave of 163' 7
½" Sunday evening at High Point. She won the event, besting
11 other competitors, most from Division I. The throw set a new
ODAC top mark by nearly seven feet, and eclipsed the NCAA
provisional qualifying mark by 2.18 meters (49.88 throw, standard
is 47.70).

SOFTBALL
LISA LEE, Eastern Mennonite, Junior,
Pitcher
Lee, a junior from Buckingham, Va.,
collected her second weekly award of the season by going 3-0 in
four appearances last week, including both wins in a key sweep of
Roanoke College on Friday. She split time on the mound in both
contests against the Maroons but was stellar in the nightcap,
scattering eight hits over 5-1/3 innings and not allowing an earned
run. She added another win on Sunday in the twinbill against
Randolph. With the two wins against Roanoke, Lee took over the
school record for wins in a season and is now 16-6 on the year. She
also leads the ODAC in wins and innings pitched.

SOFTBALL
BROOKE HENSLEY, Eastern Mennonite,
Freshman, Shortstop
Hensley, a freshman from Elkton, Va.,
picks up her second weekly award of the season after batting .727
to help the Lady Royals go 3-1. For the week she was 8-of-11 at the
plate, including a homerun and a double, as she knocked in four
runs and scored twice. She also had a slugging percentage of 1.091.
From her customary second slot in the line-up, Hensley went 3-for-3
in game two against Roanoke with her second homer of the year. She
blasted a three-run shot in a five-run fifth as the women erased a
4-1 deficit in an 8-4 win. Against Randolph, Hensley was 5-for-8
from the plate and swiped a base. She was also a defensive stalwart
at shortstop, not committing an error in 11 chances. For the
season, the strong-armed Hensley has a .949 fielding percentage in
118 chances. She also leads the EMU regulars with a .472 batting
average and has a .629 slugging percentage. She is also second in
the ODAC in batting and is in the top 13 in runs, hits, RBIs,
on-base percentage and slugging percentage.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE
SHEILA ANTHONY, Hollins, Senior,
Attack
Anthony, a freshman from Baltimore,
Md., helped Hollins record its second straight victory, which
proved to be the program's first ODAC win since the 2003 campaign.
Anthony set a Hollins' record with 10 goals in the HU's 19-10 win
over Randolph College last week. She missed tying the ODAC record
by one goal. Anthony added one assist, five draw controls, four
groundballs and a pair of caused turnovers. It marked her second
straight impressive outing, following a six-goal outburst in a win
over Agnes Scott.

WOMEN'S TENNIS
KATIE GORDON, Bridgewater, Freshman, No.
1 Singles, No. 1 Doubles
Gordon, a freshman from Winchester,
Va., turned in a strong week for the Bridgewater Eagles
women’s tennis team, propelling the Eagles to a 2-1 week,
including a victory in Sunday’s ODAC Quarterfinal matchup
against Guilford. Gordon opened the week with a loss to
Roanoke’s Laura Dodson by a 6-3, 7-5 tally, before recovering
for a 6-1, 7-5 win over 2010 ODAC first teamer Karen Montoya
(Hollins) on Thursday. Gordon closed out the week with a 6-0, 6-1
win to help propel the Eagles to a 5-1 victory over Guilford. On
the week, Gordon went 2-1 in doubles play with freshman teammate
Katy Bergey at number one doubles.
