JAKE PELTON, Washington and Lee,
Sophomore, Safety
Pelton, a sophomore from Charlottesville,
Va., picks up his third weekly award of the season. Pelton helped
Washington and Lee to a 49-14 win against Catholic on Friday by
totaling a team-high 11 tackles, including nine solo stops, and
intercepting a pair of passes. Pelton's first interception occurred
at the CUA 1-yardline late in the second quarter with the score
21-7. The Generals would score on the ensuing offensive possession
to make it a three possession game entering the second half. For
the season, Pelton is second on the team with 64 tackles and he has
posted five interceptions, tops in the ODAC.

FOOTBALL
OFFENSIVE LINE, Washington and
Lee
The Washington and Lee offensive line led the
way to a record-breaking performance in the Generals' 49-14 win
over Catholic on Friday evening. The Generals amassed 604 yards of
total offense and held the ball for better than 41 of the game's 60
minutes. Additionally, W&L set a new ODAC record for rushing
yards in a game with 496 yards (previous, 483 yds by E&H in
1998) and had three running backs eclipse the 100-yard barrier in
the contest. Six W&L rushers had at least 30 yards on the
ground. The Generals scored five touchdowns via the ground.
Saturday’s effort also provided the stage for breaking
several ODAC season records, including season rushing yards (3,008)
and season rushing touchdowns (33) with two games remaining in the
regular season. The previous records were 2,740 yards (E&H in
1986) and 32 touchdowns (H-SC in 1991 and 2003).

FIELD HOCKEY
KELLY TRAN, Washington and Lee, Senior,
Attack
Tran, a senior from Simsbury, Conn., scored
two goals and added an assist in two games last week. Both goals
came in a 4-1 win over Virginia Wesleyan in the ODAC quarterfinal
round. She also assisted on the game-winning goal in overtime in a
2-1 win over Bridgewater on Wednesday. Tran is currently tied for
third in the ODAC in points (34) and fifth in goals scored
(14).

GOLF
MAT HENNICK, Guilford College,
Junior
Hennick, a junior from Kenmore, Wash., picks
up his second weekly award of the season. Hennick won medalist
honors at the 90-man O’Briant-Jensen Memorial with a
69-73-142. The victory marked his third career title and his first
as a Quaker. He was the first Guilford student to win the
tournament in the 33-year history of the event. Hennick took a
one-stroke lead after the first round with a one-under 69 that
matched his lowest round of the fall. He helped the Quakers win the
17-team tournament by eight strokes over Methodist University.

MEN'S SOCCER
JOHN ROBERT PLYLER, Hampden-Sydney,
Senior, Goalkeeper
Plyler, a senior from Charlotte, N.C., had
one of the biggest clutch performances of his career this week. In
220 minutes of playing time -- plus a shootout -- against Roanoke
College, Plyler allowed zero goals and made 12 saves. On Tuesday in
the regular season finale, Plyler faced 24 shots and made six saves
to record his 22nd career shutout. In the quarterfinals of the ODAC
Tournament, he faced 18 shots and also made six saves. In the
shootout, Plyler saved two straight attempts to help secure the
Tigers spot in the semi-finals. Plyler has 23 career shutouts,
leaving him just one shutout short of tying the H-SC career record
held by former All-American, Mike Bizon ’00.

WOMEN'S SOCCER
BRITTANY KLIPPSTEIN, Lynchburg College,
Junior, Midfielder
Klippstein, a junior from Springfield, Va.,
tied a school-record with five goals on Saturday afternoon as the
top-seeded Lynchburg College women's soccer team defeated #8
Guilford College, 9-0, in the first round of the ODAC Tournament.
She also added a score earlier in the week in a 3-0 win at Eastern
Mennonite. Klippstein is currently second in the ODAC in goals
scored (14) and third in points (29).

SWIMMING
JOCELYN CASSADA, Washington and Lee,
Junio
Cassada, a junior from Charlotte, N.C., swam
in seven events during two meets over the weekend, recording two
first, one second, three third and a sixth-place finish. Against
Transylvania (10/29), Cassada swam to top finishes in the 200
medley relay (1:54.91) and 100 back (1:02.84), while also recording
a third-place finish in the 200 back (2:17.53). At the Centre
College Invitational, she swam in four events, recording a
second-place finish in the 100 back (1:02.75), third-place finishes
in the 200 back (2:16.57) and 200 medley relay (1:55.97) and a
sixth-place finish in the 400 free relay (3:51.72).

VOLLEYBALL
KALA GUY, Virginia Wesleyan College,
Sophomore, Outside Hitter
Guy, a sophomore from Fishersville, Va.,
helped lead VWC to a 5-0 week, including a five-set win over
Roanoke College and an a sweep against a strong field of
competition at the St. Mary’s College Seahawk Invitational.
Guy produced 79 kills in the five matches, including a season-high
20 against Roanoke. She averaged 15.8 kills through the five
matches and 43 attacks per match. Guy also recorded a season-high
20 digs against St. Mary’s. She helped the Marlins to their
second victory of the season over three-time defending Capital
Athletic Conference champion Salisbury, a first for the VWC
program. Guy now has 322 kills this season, the fourth highest
total in VWC history.
