Pitcher
Miller, a sophomore from Vesuvius,
Va., threw fired his second straight complete game of the season as
he helped the Hornets upset sixth-ranked Birmingham-Southern, 7-2.
In nine complete innings of work, he surrendered two runs (both
earned) on seven hits without walking a batter. He struck out
seven, giving him nine K's on the season. He has not walked a
batter in his last 15 innings pitched

BASEBALL
Tim Benjamin, Randolph-Macon, So.,
Catcher
Benjamin, a sophomore from Glenegl,
Md., accounted for more than half R-MC's runs as the Yellow Jackets
took down #8 Christopher Newport, 11-8, on Valentine's Day. The
Jackets' catcher went 4-for-5 with a double and a solo homerun. He
reached base six times in total (walked) as he scored three runs
and drove in four more. He's currently batting .571 on the
season.

INDOOR TRACK
Randy Lott, Virginia Wesleyan,
Jr.
Lott, a junior from Virginia Beach,
Va., won the 60-meter dash at the 2013 Mason-Dixon Indoor
Championships with a time of 6.98, tying the ODAC top time he
established earlier this season. Lott also placed fifth in the
200-meter dash with a VWC record time of 22.86, breaking the former
record of 22.88 set by Jason Taylor in 2009. That stands as the
fastest time in the ODAC this season. Lott also ran a leg on the
4x400-meter relay team that finished second with a VWC record time
of 3:27.31, breaking the former mark of 3:28.31. That time is
second-best in the ODAC and qualified the Marlins for the Penn
Relays.

INDOOR TRACK
Amanda Theall, Shenandoah,
Senior
Theall, a senior from Blossvale, N.Y.,
was named the Athlete of the Meet after winning the shot put and
weight throw competitions at the 2013 Mason-Dixon Indoor
Championships. Theall fired the shot put 11.54 meters (37' 10.5")
to take over the second spot on the ODAC's season-best list. She
then heaved the weight at 15.24 meters (50' 00"), coming up eight
inches short of the conference's top mark, which she already
owns.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
J.D. Ey, Washington and Lee, Sr.,
Forward
Ey, a senior from Charlotte, N.C.,
helped the Generals to a 2-0 week and secure the eighth seed in the
ODAC men's basketball tournament. He recorded two double-doubles
and scored the 1,00th point of his career. For the week, he totaled
33 points (16.5 ppg), 23 rebounds (11.5 rpg.), five assists (2.5
apg.), five steals (2.5 spg.) and three blocks (1.5 bpg.). He
scored his 1,000th career point in the second half against
Shenandoah on Saturday. He finished the game with 23 points,
including 19 in the second half, and dropped in the game-winning
basket with 14 seconds left after stealing the Hornets inbounds'
pass. He is the only player in W&L history with at least 1,000
career points, 800 rebounds, 200 assists, 150 blocks and 100
steals. He leads the ODAC in rebounds per game (9.6) and blocks per
game (2.2).

MEN'S LACROSSE
Vin Curran, Lynchburg, Sr.,
Midfielder
Curran, a senior from Hull, Mass., was
an instrumental part in the Hornets 13-12 upset over two-time
defending national champion and #1-ranked Salisbury University.
Curran handled the majority of the faceoffs for the first time in
his career, and won 60% of them against last year's first team
All-American faceoff man. In addition he scooped up four
groundballs. He also scored two goals, with the second one coming
with 15 seconds remaining which proved to be the game-winner as
caused a turnover to prevent a potential game-tying goal. The
victory marked the first for LC over Salisbury since 2003.

MEN'S TENNIS
John Brvenik, Guilford, Fr., No. 6
Singles
Brvenik, a freshman from Storrs,
Conn., clinched Guilford's 5-4 win over Va. Wesleyan by pulling out
a three-set win at sixth singles. He downed the Marlins' Adam Owen
Ferrari, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, for his first college win.

SOFTBALL
Logan Carter, Randolph, Jr.,
Pitcher
Carter, a junior from Richmond, Va.,
picked up her first win of the 2013 season as she tossed a
complete-game to defeat Averett, 2-1. Carter game up one run
(earned) on four hits while walking one and fanning three. The win
helped the WildCats to a season opening split with the Cougars.

SOFTBALL
Kelly Keys, Virginia Wesleyan, Jr., 2nd
Base
Keys, a junior from Manassas, Va.,
started off the season with four hits in her first six at bats to
help the Marlins to a season-opening sweep of Meredith. In game
one, she went 1-for-3 in an 8-2 win, but then followed that with a
3-for-3 showing with a double and five runs batted in towards an
11-1 triumph. She also scored a run in the latter contest.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Paxton Gwin, Roanoke, Jr.,
Guard
Gwin, a junior from Buxton, N.C.,
averaged 26.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in the Maroons 1-1 week as
they locked up the #7 seed in the ODAC women's basketball
tournament. She opened with the week with 22 points on 7-of-15
shooting in a 57-53 win over Hollins. She also notched seven boards
and two assists while going 6-of-6 from the charity stripe. She
followed that up with a career-high 31 points on 9-of-12 shooting
from the field and 10-of-10 from the foul line in a 69-67 last
minute loss to Bridgewater. She also buried a three of the
long-distance field goals she attempted, and came away with six
rebounds and a blocked shot. Gwin currently ranks fourth in the
ODAC in scoring (16.0 ppg) and fifth in field goal percentage
(47.2%).

WOMEN'S LACROSSE
E'leyna Garcia, Guilford, Jr.,
Attack
Garcia, a junior from Plantation,
Fla., led Guilford with a career-high eight points on six goals and
two assists in the Quakers' season-opening 18-5 win over Sewanee.
She also picked up six ground balls and won three draw controls.
Her eight points stand ninth in Guilford's single-game history and
her six goals are the sixth-highest total. She moved into eighth
place on Guilford's career scoring list (152 points) and ninth
place on Guilford's career goals chart (108). The two helpers put
her into third place on Guilford's career assists list (44).

WOMEN'S TENNIS
Amber Lake, Shenandoah, Fr., No. 5
Singles
Lake, a freshman from Pennsville,
N.J., secured the Hornets' 5-4 victory over NCAA Division II
Shippensburg with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles. She
followed that with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph to help Shenandoah top Hood,
7-2.
