ODAC Players of the Week

Thru Week Prior to: March 25, 2013

BASEBALL
Daniel Stanley, Eastern Mennonite, Sr., Pitcher
Stanley, a senior from Henrico, Va., picks up his second weekly award of the season after blanking Hampden-Sydney, 7-0, for his fourth complete game and third shutout, both tops in the ODAC. In nine innings of work, Stanley gave up just five hits and walked a pair while striking out two. He improved his record to 4-2 with the win, while also lowering his earned run average to 2.47, seventh in the conference. His four victories are tied for second, while his 43.2 innings on the hill are fourth.

BASEBALL
Will Salley, Washington and Lee, Sr., Outfielder
Salley, a senior from Augusta, Ga., went 7-for-17 (.412) from the dish as he helped lead the Generals to a 3-1 week that included a doubleheader sweep of Roanoke College. Salley generated 12 runs for the Generals as he drove in five and scored seven times. He had at least one hit in each of the four games, including a trio of two-hit efforts. He accounted for six runs in the Generals 10-8 win over Earlham as he belted a pair of homers on the way to driving in three runs and scoring three times. The two homers stretched his consecutive games with a homerun-streak to four. Salley is currently hitting .313 on the season. He's #1 in the ODAC with 15 walks (3 this past week) and tied for third with five homeruns.

GOLF
Drew Thompson, Guilford, Sophomore
Thompson, a sophomore from Pickerington, Ohio, picks up his second weekly awards of the 2012-13 year as he tied for fourth overall in the Gold Championship of the Marine Corps Intercollegiate at Camp Lejuene. He posted rounds of 70, 66 and 76 on the way to a two-under-par 212 at Paradise Point Golf Club, finishing two strokes behind individual medalist Mike Wesko from Methodist. Thompson's performance helped the 11th ranked Quakers place sixth in the field of 32. His second-round 66 is a career-low and tied for fifth in school history. His 36-hole score of 136 and his 54-hole score of 212 rank third and eighth, respectively, in Guilford history.

GOLF
Olivia Bowling, Randolph-Macon, Freshman
Bowling, a freshman from Charlotte Hall, Md., tied for 13th at the Randolph-Macon Invitational over the weekend. She posted rounds of 87 and 79 on the way to a 22-over-par 166. Her second round 79 was the lowest individual round posted by an ODAC golfer at the event, and it also marked the lowest in Bowling's career.

MEN'S LACROSSE
Richard Lachlan, Roanoke, Sr., Attack
Lachlan, a senior from Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada, helped the Maroons to a pair of wins, including a 17-12 ODAC-victory over Virginia Wesleyan. He opened the week with three goals and a pair of groundballs in a 12-3 triumph over Whittier. On Saturday against the Marlins, Lachlan scored five times, while picking up three loose balls. The eight goals move him into second all-time on the Roanoke scoring lists. Lachlan currently leads the ODAC with 24 goals scored and is tied for third with 29 points.

MEN'S TENNIS
Hayden White, Washington and Lee, Senior
White, a senior from Baltimore, Md., helped the Generals to a 3-0 week by going 5-0 between singles and doubles play. He earned wins at #1 singles (6-4, 6-4) and #2 doubles (8-1) in a 5-1 win over Bridgewater. He won 6-0, 6-0 at #1 singles in his only action of an 8-1 win over Shenandoah. White capped his week with victories at #1 singles (6-2, 6-0) and #1 doubles (8-0) in the Generals 9-0 win over Hampden-Sydney. For the season, White has posted a 19-5 singles mark and 12-7 record in doubles play.

OUTDOOR TRACK
Greg Wilson, Lynchburg, Junior
Wilson, a junior from Sagamore Beach, Mass., won a pair of throwing events and finished second in a third at the Doc Jopson Invitational hosted by Bridgewater College. Wilson won the shot put competition by over two feet, posting a mark of 14.73 meters (48' 4.0"). He went on to win the hammer throw, setting a new ODAC top distance at 47.48 meters (155' 9.0"). That mark topped the second-best throw by more than 13 feet. Wilson capped his day by missing his third victory by just 10 inches in the discus, as he tossed the apparatus 41.61 meters (136' 6.0").

OUTDOOR TRACK
Kristen Trice, Bridgewater, Freshman
Trice, a freshman from Glen Allen, Va., competed in four events at the Doc Jopson Invitational, the first outdoor meet of her collegiate career. She won twice, posting new ODAC top marks along the way. Trice captured the win in the high jump with a mark of 1.53 meters (5' 0.25"), which is tied for 43rd in the country. She added a gold medal in the triple jump with a leap of 11.07 meters (36' 4.0"), ranking 10th in NCAA Division III. Trice added a fourth place finish in the long jump (4.77m; 15' 7.75"), posting a personal season-best distance. She also competed in the 100-meter dash, placing ninth in 14.08 seconds.

SOFTBALL
Heather Jenkins, Bridgewater, Sr., Pitcher
Jenkins, a senior from Locust Grove, Va., twirled a gem in a 2-0 victory over Randolph College as she was perfect from the circle in retiring 21 straight batters. Jenkins did not give up a run, hit or walk while fanning three in recording the Eagles' second perfect game in program history (Lisa Rhodes in 2004). Jenkins improved to 6-2 on the season, lowering her earned run average to an ODAC fifth-best 1.43 in 54 innings of work. Batters are only hitting .194 against her, also fifth in the conference ranks.

SOFTBALL
Lindsey Inzana, Virginia Wesleyan, Jr., DP
Inzana, a junior from Chesapeake, Va., went 9-for-14 (.643) in leading Virginia Wesleyan to a 5-0 week. She notched two doubles and three homers while driving in 11 runs and scoring four times. She had two homers and five RBI as part of a 3-for-3 showing in game one against Sweet Briar. She came back with a double and two RBI in both games of a sweep of Shenandoah. She saved her biggest blast for the week's final game against Emory & Henry. Inzana broke an 8-8 tie in the bottom of the sixth with a solo shot for her fourth homer of the year. Inzana is second in the ODAC with 28 RBI and 12th with a .424 batting average.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE
E'leyna Garcia, Guilford, Jr., Attack
Garcia, a junior from Plantation, Fla., picks up her third weekly award of the season as she helped the Quakers to their best start in school history with two more wins to improve the team's record to 7-1. Garcia exploded for 17 goals and two assists with eight draw controls, six groundballs and three caused turnovers in wins over NCAA Division II member, Catawba (22-10) and Virginia Wesleyan (14-10). She tied schools records for goals and points in a game against Catawba as she notched 10 goals and one assist. In the effort, she became Guilford's all-time leading goal-scorer with 157. Against VWC, Garcia scored seven times and assisted on another. She busted an 8-8 tie in the second-half that sent GC on a 6-1 run to finish the contest. Garcia currently leads the ODAC with 64 points and 55 goals scored. The latter is three short of setting a new Guilford single-season record.

WOMEN'S TENNIS
Meghan Buell, Washington and Lee, Sophomore
Buell, a sophomore from New Albany, Ohio, went 8-2 on the week, competing in five of six matches for Washington and Lee as the Generals went 4-2. Buell went 4-1 at #2 singles, posting wins versus Roanoke (6-0, 6-1), Shenandoah (6-0, 6-0), Tufts (6-2, 6-0) and Sewanee (6-2, 6-3). She and partner Cameron Dorsey went 4-1 at #2 doubles with wins against RC (8-0), SU (8-0), Tufts (8-4) and Sewanee (8-2). Buell's only losses came to second-ranked Amherst. For the spring campaign, Buell owns a 6-3 singles record (5-3 at #2) and a 7-4 doubles record (5-1 at #2).
