ODAC Players of the Week

Leake, a senior from Fredericksburg, Va., went 1-1 last week in a pair of starts against ODAC foes. He went seven scoreless frames in a 12-4 triumph at Eastern Mennonite, scattering seven hits with two walks and seven strikeouts. The Eagles' southpaw then came back later in the week to make a second start and work eight innings in a narrow 2-1 setback at Hampden-Sydney. He gave up two runs on three hits with two walks and five strikeouts. For the season, Leake is 4-3 with an ODAC fourth-best 1.96 earned run average. He's given up just 37 hits in 55.0 innings on the hill. Opponents are hitting .191 against him.

Lodge, a senior from Chesterfield, Va., picks up his second weekly award after hitting .615 with a .688 on-base percentage and 1.154 slugging percentage in the nationally fifth-ranked Yellow Jackets' 3-0 week. He as the catalyst behind a five-run ninth inning in a 7-6 win over Methodist. He belted a three-run homer in that game, finishing a 2-for-3 day in which he also walked twice. He was 6-for-10 in a sweep at Lynchburg, smacking a double in game one (7-2) and then going 5-for-5 with four RBI in game two (14-8). He came up a homer short of the cycle, collecting a double and triple to go with a walk and two runs scored. For the season, Lodge leads the ODAC in all three slash-line percentages with a .466 batting average, .560 OBP and .966 slugging percentage. He's also #1 with 10 homers and is second with 36 RBI.

Bowling, a senior from Charlotte Hall, Md., collects her third weekly award of the year as she led Randolph-Macon to a tie for second at the Methodist Spring Invitational. Bowling finished third individually, racking up a two-round total of 170 in very windy and chilly playing conditions at the Methodist Golf Club in Fayetteville, N.C. She opened with an 86 on Saturday before finishing two strokes better with an 84 on Sunday. Her 170 was three strokes back of second place and 13 of medalist Peyton Durham from Methodist, who shot the only two sub-80 rounds in the tough scoring conditions. Bowling's efforts helped Randolph-Macon to a 720 team total, tying Piedmont College for second in the six-team standings. Bowling is currently fourth in the ODAC with a 78.1 per round average.

Fiore, a senior from Ithaca, N.Y., posted an 11-point week in helping Guilford to a 2-0 week that included a conference victory over Bridgewater. Fiore opened with eight points on three goals and five assists in an 18-10 non-conference win over Ferrum. He followed that his second hat-trick of the week, including the game's final goal with 4:37 to play to seal a 7-5 victory at Bridgewater. He added three total ground balls on the week. For the season, Fiore leads Guilford and ranks sixth in the ODAC with 40 points on 20 goals and on ODAC second-best 20 assists.

Strober, a sophomore from Stockton, N.J., helped the WildCats to a 1-1 week that included the WildCats' first team victory over Randolph-Macon in program history. Strober won 6-2, 6-2 at #1 singles and teamed with Doug Corbett for a 9-7 win at #1 doubles, registering two points in Randolph's 5-4 win over R-MC. Strober added a 2-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-5) win at #1 singles in an 8-1 setback to Guilford. He and Corbett fell 8-4 in doubles play.

Truman, a junior from Richmond, Va., put together a national top-10 performance in the long jump at the Bridgewater Invitational this weekend. Truman is the first ODAC athlete to crack seven meters this season as he won the event at 7.04 meters (23' 1.25"). That distance ties for eighth in NCAA Division III. Truman also competed in the 100-meter dash on the track, taking fifth at 0:11.40.

Borhauer, a junior from Burke, Va., posted a pair of victories at the Bridgewater Invitational over the weekend. Both times rank inside the ODAC's top-five in their respective ranks. He captured the 400-meter dash in 0:48.95, setting a new ODAC-best mark and tying for 20th in the country. He also won the 200-meter dash in 0:22.52, which slots as the fourth-best time in the conference this season. Borhauer added a showing in the 4x400-meter relay, helping Shenandoah to third in 3:35.07.

Senger, a junior from Bridgewater, Va., put together a strong day in all four throws at the Bridgewater Invitational. She won both the hammer throw and discus, while placing third in the shot put and fourth in the javelin. Her throw of 44.51 meters in the hammer broke her own BC record and ranks third in the ODAC this season. She heaved the discus 41.72 meters to take over top position in the ODAC and rank 19th nationally. Senger capped her day with throws of 10.79 meters in the shot and 30.95 meters in the javelin, the former ranking fourth in the ODAC.

Janney, a senior from Daleville, Va., won an individual event and helped Roanoke to a pair of relay victories at the Bridgewater Invitational. Janney captured the 400-meter dash in 0:57.75, which ranks as the second-fastest time in the ODAC and 19th quickest in NCAA Division III. She then ran the anchor leg in both the 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relays, in which RC posted winning times of 0:49.80 and 4:08.42, respectively.

Kresinske, a freshman from Chesapeake, Va., continued her strong rookie campaign by going 3-0 against conference opponents last week. She opened with an eight-inning complete-game effort in a 3-2 win over Randolph-Macon. She gave up two runs (one earned) on three hits with two walks and a career-best 11 strikeouts. Kresinske then worked 9.0 no-hit innings to pick up her remaining two victories of the week. She went 4.0 frames in a 6-0 triumph at Bridgewater, surrendering two walks while fanning six. In an 11-0 win at Shenandoah, she issued just one free pass to go with five strikeouts. For the season, Kresinske is tied for second in the ODAC with 12 wins (12-1). She owns the best earned run average in the league at 0.73 in 76.1 innings of work. She has struck out an ODAC third-best 83 batters. Opponents are hitting just .156 against her, which ranks second in the conference.

Bresson, a senior from Laurel, Md., hit .500 in the Hornets 5-1 week that included a 3-1 showing against ODAC foes. Bresson had a breakout performance as she went 9-for-18 overall with a double, the first four homers of her season, 15 runs batted in and eight runs scored. She was 3-for-5 in a sweep at Ferrum, hitting a pair of homers and driving in three runs in game two (13-6). She was 3-for-6 in a sweep of Emory & Henry. She hit the first of her two grand slams in game one (9-1) against the Wasps. Bresson's second bag-cleared came in a 14-5 game two win of a split at Guilford. He was 3-for-4 in the game with a double to go with the grand slam and six RBI. For the season, Bresson is hitting .306 with 16 RBI. She owns a .592 slugging percentage.

Francis, a senior from Lebanon, N.J., scored 10 times to lead Lynchburg to a pair of ODAC victories last week. Francis started her week with a career-high seven goals to go with five draw controls in a 17-5 win at Virginia Wesleyan. She followed that with a hat-trick and five more draws in a 21-2 triumph over Randolph. For the season, Francis is seventh in the ODAC with 32 goals scored and 12th with 34 total points. She's converted eight free-position into goals, which sits fourth in the ODAC.

Mazzari, a freshman from San Remo, Italy, helped Emory & Henry to a 1-1 team showing by going 4-0 between her matches at #1 singles and #1 doubles. Mazzari was responsible for two points in the Wasps' 6-0 victory over Virginia Wesleyan. She won 6-0, 6-1 in singles action, and then partner with Savanna Summers to win 8-0 in doubles play. The duo were back at it against Randolph-Macon as they posted an 8-6 triumph over Randolph-Macon. Mazzari took the top flight singles match as well, winning 6-0, 6-2. Mazzari is now 12-0 in all singles matches and 10-2 overall in doubles play. She and Summers are 8-1 when paired together.
