Lynchburg posted a 27-0-1 record and secured its fifth straight and 13th overall ODAC title to setup its six-game run in the NCAA postseason on the way to lifting the walnut and bronze. LC picked up wins at home over Salem College (4-0) and Stevenson University (4-1) before hitting the road for the remainder of the tournament. That stretch began with a 2-0 win over Montclair State and then a 1-1 advancement on penalty kicks over Messiah College to earn a berth in the semifinals.

From Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City, Mo., the Hornets took down Illinois Wesleyan University, 2-1, to set the stage for a showdown with Williams College for the national crown. The teams played to a 0-0 draw thru 110 minutes, leading to a second playoff shootout for LC. The Hornets again prevailed from the spot, securing the Division III championship.
