ODAC Players of the Week - Week 16

FOREST, Va. --- The holiday season is quickly approaching, which limits the competition for conference teams this time of year. Still, men's and women's basketball remained in action this week, marking the final two weekly award winners of 2016. Picking up this week's ODAC Men's and Women's Basketball Player of the Week awards are Roanoke College forward John Caldwell and Washington and Lee University guard Emily Perszyk.

ODAC Players of the Week

Thru Week Prior to: December 19, 2016

MEN'S BASKETBALL
John Caldwell, Roanoke, So., Forward
Caldwell, a sophomore from Spartanburg, S.C., helped the Maroons to a 1-1 showing at the Swarthmore Holiday Tournament and earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team by averaging 24.0 points and 10.0 rebounds that included his first two double-doubles of the season. Caldwell blistered from the field in both games, but especially show in Roanoke's 89-76 win over Averett. He was 10-of-13 from the field including 5-of-7 from deep on the way to 28 points. He pulled down 10 rebounds and chipped in two assists and and two blocked shots. Caldwell kept up his strong play in the Maroons 96-86 setback to Rowan University. He went 3-of-5 from beyond the arc and 7-of-12 overall towards 20 points with a second 10-rebound outing. He dished out four assists against the Profs. For the season, Caldwell is tied for second in the ODAC in scoring average (18.8) and sixth in overall points scored (150). He's third in three-pointers made (22), fifth in field goals made (53), and seventh in three-point percentage (47.8%).

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Emily Perszyk, Washington and Lee, Jr., Guard
Perszyk, a junior from Greendale, Wis., helped the Generals to a 1-1 showing at the Hilton Scranton Poinsettia Classic. In a 69-54 setback to nationally third-ranked and host University of Scranton, Perszyk registered 14 points on 6-of-13 from the field. She added in two rebounds, two assists and three steals. Perszyk helped the Generals rebound in the second game of the tourney with a 71-41 win over Maine-Presque Isle. She went 5-of-9 from the field including 4-of-5 from downtown and 3-of-3 from the stripe on the way to 17 points. She chipped in three assists and four steals, giving her seven swipes in the two games. For the season, Perszyk is fifth in the ODAC in scoring average (16.4) and sixth in overall points scored (131). He is #1 in the conference in free throw shooting (90.9%), having buried 30-of-33 from the line. She is also fifth in three-pointers made (15) and sixth in three-point percentage (37.5%).
