ODAC Players of the Week - Week 18

FOREST, Va. --- Women's swimming returned to action this weekend despite the frigid temperatures and snow blanketing much of the region. Performances remained high both in the pool and on the basketball court. Those earning weekly awards include (pictured, l-r, t-b): Kelly Williams from Randolph-Macon women's basketball, John Caldwell from Roanoke men's basketball, and Emily Rollo from Washington and Lee women's swimming.

ODAC Players of the Week

Thru Week Prior to: January 9, 2017

MEN'S BASKETBALL
John Caldwell, Roanoke, So., Forward
Caldwell, a sophomore from Spartanburg, S.C., put together two strong outings in the Maroons 1-1 week against conference competition. Caldwell shot 59.3-percent for the week, beginning with a 7-of-12 showing that included 3-of-7 from deep for 18 points in a 73-57 setback at Guilford. He chipped in seven rebounds and a pair of blocked shots. Caldwell helped the Maroons respond for a 78-74 triumph over Hampden-Sydney with a career-high 32 points and 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season. He helped the Maroons recover from a 13-point second-half deficit by shooting 9-of-15 from the field including 6-of-8 from three-point range. He was also 8-of-9 from the foul line and blocked two shots. For the season, Caldwell is second in the ODAC in points scored (242) and scoring average (20.2 ppg). He is second in field goals made (82) and three-pointers made (37) while leading the league in minutes played (34.3 mpg).

SWIMMING
Emily Rollo, Washington and Lee, Sr.
Rollo, a senior from Haddonfield, N.J., helped the nationally 10th-ranked Generals start of 2017 with a bang as she was a part of four of Washington and Lee's 11 winning swims (in 12 events) in its 155-96 dual meet victory over Bridgewater. Rollo touched the wall first in both the 100-yard and 200-yard backstrokes as she gears up to challenge her existing ODAC records -- both championship and overall -- in the two events. She posted times of 1:01.17 and 2:10.91, respectively. Rollo also helped W&L to wins in the 200-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle relays with times of 1:51.28 and 1:42.03.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Kelly Williams, Randolph-Macon, Fr. Forward
Williams, a freshman from Garysburg, N.C., picks up her second straight and third ODAC weekly award of the season after helping Randolph-Macon rattle off two wins to move its current streak to three-straight. Williams averaged 22.5 points, 14.5 rebounds, and 5.0 blocked shots while shooting 65.4-percent (17-of-26) from the field in the two games. She opened with 20 points on 9-of-14 shooting with 16 rebounds, six blocked shots, and two steals. Six of her rebounds came via the offensive glass. Williams corralled eight offensive boards on the way to 13 rebounds in a 62-58 win at Emory & Henry. She scored a season-high 25 points on 8-of-12 from the field and 9-of-13 from the foul line. She chipped in four blocked shots and two more steals. For the season, Williams is sixth in the ODAC in points scored (199) and scoring average (16.6). She leads in the ODAC in rebounds (153), offensive rebounds (70), and rebounding average (12.8), second in blocked shots (27), and fifth in field goals made (78) and field goal shooting (52.7%).
