FOREST, Va. --- Believe it or not, there are just three weeks remaining in the ODAC regular season. Athletes continue to help put their teams in position with the postseason looming. Those earning weekly honors include (pictured, l-r, t-b): Hayden Bauserman from Shenandoah football, Haley Tucker from Washington and Lee field hockey, Griffin Davis from Hampden-Sydney football, Michaela Mast from Eastern Mennonite women's cross country, Austin Tolbert from Emory & Henry men's cross country, Kylah Blackmore from Roanoke volleyball, Brian Peccie from W&L men's golf, Christina Herbert from Bridgewater women's golf, David Shafer from EMU men's soccer, and Kennedy Jakubek from Lynchburg women's soccer.

ODAC Players of the Week

Thru Week Prior to: October 9, 2017

FOOTBALL - DEFENSIVE Griffin Davis, Hampden-Sydney, So., Linebacker Davis, a sophomore from Charlottesville, Va., helped lead a strong defensive effort by the Tigers in their 21-18 victory at Guilford. Davis made a team-high nine tackles including 3.5 for a loss that cost Guillford 12 yards of offense. He recorded 1.5 quarterback sacks, each of which ended Guilford drives. He also combined with a teammate for a goal-line stop on 3rd-and-goal from the 1-yard line to force the Quakers into a field goal and maintain a 6-3 Tigers' lead. Davis helped limit Guilford for 11 offensive points and just 289 yards from scrimmage. The Quakers converted just 1-of-12 opportunities on third down. For the season, Davis has 23 total tackles while tying for the ODAC lead with 7.5 tackles for a loss that have cost opponents 33 yards of offense. His 3.5 sacks are tied for fourth in the league. FOOTBALL - OFFENSIVE Hayden Bauserman, Shenandoah, Jr., Quarterback Bauserman, a junior from Woodstock, Va., picks up his second straight weekly honor after leading Shenandoah to a fourth win in five games with another strong passing performance. Bauserman set a school-record with 40 completions in going 40-of-61 (65.6%) for 495 yards and five touchdowns. The nation's leading passer at 417.0 yards per game, 2,085 passing yards overall, and 24 touchdowns completed passes to nine different receivers on Saturday. The 495 yards are the fourth-most in Division III this year, giving him two of the top-four performances this year. That total is also eighth in ODAC history. His 40 completions tie for ninth in league history. His five TD passes are tied for 11th in the NCAA (3rd-most in a game this season) and tied for fifth in ODAC history. FIELD HOCKEY Haley Tucker, Washington and Lee, Jr., Midfielder Tucker, junior from Manakin Sabot, Va., picks up her second straight weekly honor after leading Washington and Lee to a pair of ODAC victories. Tucker registered 11 points for the week as the Generals moved into a tie with Roanoke at 3-0 in league play following a 5-2 win at Eastern Mennonite and an 8-3 triumph over Randolph-Macon. She registered two goals at EMU, notching the second and third tallies of the game. Against R-MC, she registered the second, sixth and eight goals while assisting on Grace Amaden's score in the 68th minute. For the season, Tucker has moved into a tied for third in the ODAC with 20 points on nine goals and two assists. He nine goals are also third in the league. MEN'S GOLF Brian Peccie, Washington and Lee, So. Peccie, a sophomore from Norfolk, Va., helped Washington and Lee to sixth place in a tough national field at the Gordin Collegiate Classic. Peccie finished in a tie for third at 2-over 215 after three rounds on the par 71 layout set at 6,562 at the Delaware Golf Club in Delaware, Ohio. He opened with a 3-over 74 before nearly erasing that with a 2-under 69 in round two. He finished his tournament with a 1-over 72 to tie with three other golfers four shots off the lead in a field of 60 players. Peccie, who owns a team-best 72.5 scoring average, helped W&L to a 33-over 885 team total with rounds of 300, 296, and 297. Click to learn more about the past week in ODAC GOLF

WOMEN'S GOLF Christina Herbert, Bridgewater, Sr. Herbert, a senior from Williamsburg, Va., won her third straight tournament by claiming individual medalist honors by 10 strokes at the Generals' Invitational. Herbert carded rounds of 73 and 69 on the way to a 2-under par 142 after two rounds on the par 72 layout set at 5,801 yards at the Lexington Golf & Country Club. She rolled home seven birdies in the final round, which helped lower her season average to a NCAA Division III-best 72.13. MEN'S SOCCER David Shafer, Eastern Mennonite, Jr., Midfielder Shafer, a junior from Maitland, Fla., had a hand in five goals scored by Eastern Mennonite as the Royals picked up a pair of conference wins with two six-goal outbursts. In a 6-0 win over Emory & Henry, Shafer helped put the first goal on the board in the 68th minute and then assisted on EMU's second goal before making a 3-0 Royals with his own tally in the 79th minute. He was back at it in a 6-2 victory at Guilford. He assisted on the opening goal in the eighth minute and then put EMU up 4-1 in the 54th minute with a 20-yard strike in transition. For the season, Shafer is tied for fourth in the ODAC with 14 points on five goals and four assists, the latter of which is tied for tops in the ODAC. WOMEN'S SOCCER Kennedy Jakubek, Lynchburg, Jr., Midfielder Jakubek, a junior from Leesburg, Va., registered 10 points on five goals to help Lynchburgt to a 3-0 week that included a pair of ODAC victories. The Hornets are now 11-1 overall and 4-1 in ODAC play. Jakubek started her week by scoring both goals in a 2-1 victory at Catholic. She fired a shot inside the far post in the seventh minute and then dribbled thru the defense and beat the keeper 1-on-1 in the 33rd minute. Jakubek again found the net twice in a 9-0 victory at Randolph, registering the first just 23-seconds into the contest and notching her second in the 16th minute. She capped her week by scoring the first goal in a 3-0 win at Washington and Lee in the 54th minute. VOLLEYBALL Kylah Blackmore, Roanoke, Sr., Outside Hitter Blackmore, a senior from Mechanicsville, Va., exploded for a high-volume double-double as the Maroons erased a 3-0 loss to Guilford earlier this season with a 3-2 triumph over the Quakers. Blackmore registered 28 kills to go with 18 digs. The 28 kills are the most in the ODAC this season and second-most in Roanoke history. It also ties for 13th as the sixth-best total in a five-set match in NCAA Division III this season. Blackmore committed just two errors to rack up a .456 attack percentage. She also tacked on a block-assist to bring her point total to 28.5 for the match and 5.7 per set. For the season, Blackmore leads the ODAC with 220 kills and is second at 3.14 per match. She owns the top-two highest output matches for kills this season, joining this effort with 25 kills against Methodist earlier this season. Click to learn more about the past week in ODAC VOLLEYBALL

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY Austin Tolbert, Emory & Henry, Jr. Tolbert, a junior from Wytheville, Va., finished ninth overall and was the third-fastest Division III runner at the Piedmont Invitational. He posted a time of 27:56.0 on the course set about 200-meters longer than eight-kilometers. The time was a 1:45 drop from his previous best at the Piedmont Invitational, set last season. WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY Michaela Mast, Eastern Mennonite, Sr. Mast, a senior from Broadway, Va., picks up her second weekly award after winning her second race in four attempts this season. Mast stopped the watches first overall at the CNU Invitational with a six-kilometer time of 23:46.0. She completed the course 29-second faster than the next closest competitor. The first time competitor also has a second-place showing on her performance sheet this season. Her efforts helped EMU to first in the team standings with 20 points.
