FOREST, Va. --- With just one week of conference play remaining several fall sports, ODAC athletes are making a push to get their teams in position for the postseason. Those earning weekly honors include (pictured, l-r, t-b): Nikki Simpao from Lynchburg field hockey, Jacob Laughlin from Virginia Wesleyan men's golf, De'Eric Bell from Guilford football, Meg Guignon from Washington and Lee volleyball, Vic Smith Jr. from GC football, Mia Meinhardt from Virginia Wesleyan women's soccer, JP Reatagui from Hampden-Sydney men's soccer, Patrick Sullivan from W&L men's swimming, Natalia Perdomo from Randolph-Macon women's swimming, and Mary-Frances Hall from W&L women's golf.

ODAC Players of the Week

Thru Week Prior to: October 23, 2017

FOOTBALL - DEFENSIVE Vic Smith Jr., Guilford, Sr., Safety/Linebacker Smith, a senior from Lakeland, Fla., helped the Quakers hand Shenandoah University its first conference loss of the season in Guilford's 45-20 win on Saturday. Smith notched nine or more tackles in a game for a fourth straight contest with nine total stops including five solo tackles. One came behind the line of scrimmage. Smith's biggest play was a tone-setter for the Quakers' defense as he intercepted the Hornets first play from scrimmage and returned it 43 yards for a touchdown and an early 7-0 lead. It marked the first interception and pick-six of his career. Guilford held the nation's leading passer, Hayden Bauserman, to 290 yards and pair of touchdowns thru the air while intercepting him once in each quarter. FOOTBALL - OFFENSIVE De'Eric Bell, Guilford, Jr., Running Back Bell, a junior from Jackson, Ga., picks up his second weekly award after racking up 277 all-purpose yards in Guilford's 45-20 win over Shenandoah. The yardage moves him into fourth on the ODAC all-time list with 5,573 all-purpose yards. Bell ran for 227 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 21 carries, good for a 10.8 per carry average. He had 100 yards in the first half while needing just nine carries to pick up the remaining 127 yards over the second 30-minute frame. His scoring runs covered 10 and 40 yards, furthering his Guilford all-time record to 26 career rushing touchdowns. He added 19 yards receiving on a pair of receptions and returned two kicks for an additional 31 yards. For the season, Bell is third in the ODAC with 602 rushing yards and fifth with seven touchdowns on the ground. FIELD HOCKEY Nikki Simpao, Lynchburg, Jr., Midfielder Simpao, a junior from Stafford, Va., exploded for 19 points in the Hornets 2-0 week. Among the national leaders in several categories, Simpao opened with four goals and a pair of assists as Lynchburg posted a 10-1 victory at Ferrum. She again found the back of the cage four times against Randolph-Macon, chipping in an assist to help push Lynchburg to 5-1 in the ODAC standings. MEN'S GOLF Jacob Laughlin, Virginia Wesleyan, So. Laughlin, a sophomore from McGaheysville, Va., put together a strong showing at the Virginia State Golf Association (VSGA) Intercollegiate. Laughlin finished in a tie for third at 2-over 144 following two rounds on the par 71 layout set to 6,750 yards at Stonehenge Golf & Country Club in Richmond, Va. He opened with a 1-under 70 before closing at 3-over 74 to tie seven off the pace with Mary Washington's Sebastian Bonte. Laughlin's efforts helped Virginia Wesleyan claim the team title by three strokes over UMW at 24-over 592 (289-303). For the season, Laughlin owns a 76.2 scoring average with this marking his first top-five showing of the season. Click to learn more about the past week in ODAC GOLF

WOMEN'S GOLF Mary-Frances Hall, Washington and Lee, Sr. Hall, a senior from State Road, N.C., was outstanding at the Golfweek Division III Fall Invitational as she tied for medalist honors after three rounds at the Baytowne Golf Club in Sandestin, Fla. After shooting a 6-over 78 in the opening round on the par 72 layout set at 5,838 yards, Hall carded back-to-back 1-over rounds of 73 to finish in a first-place tie with Samantha Haubenstock of Washington (Mo.) at 8-over 224. For Hall, it was her fourth career victory and first since claiming the 2016 ODAC Championship. Her efforts helped Washington and Lee to fifth (954) in the team standings. On the season, Hall finished has finished in the top-five of all three tournaments she has played this fall. She owns a 75.57 scoring average across seven rounds. MEN'S SOCCER JP Reategui, Hampden-Sydney, Jr., Midfielder Reategui, a junior from Ashburn, Va., helped the Tigers collect a pair of conference victories to solidify its position in the standings as the end of the regular season draws near. In a 1-0 victory at Virginia Wesleyan, Reategui proved the difference as he notched the overtime winner by converting a penalty kick in the 94th minute. He was again back on the ledger in a 3-0 win at Emory & Henry, notching the second goal in a 58th minute. For the season, Reategui has collected 10 points on a team-best five goals scored. MEN'S SWIMMING Patrick Sullivan, Washington and Lee, Fr. Sullivan, a freshman from Pawleys Island, S.C., put together a strong performance in the Generals dual meet victory at Randolph-Macon. Sullivan won both the 100-yard and 200-yard backstrokes with times of 0:55.04 and 2:03.93, respectively. His 100-back time is the fastest in the ODAC so far this season, while his 200-back time sits third. Sullivan also helped Washington and Lee win the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:28.06, second only to the Generals' time at the ODAC Relays. Click to learn more about the past week in ODAC SWIMMING

WOMEN'S SWIMMING Natalia Perdomo, Randolph-Macon, Fr. Perdomo, a freshman from Stafford, Va., posted three individual victories, a pair of second place showings, and helped Randolph-Macon to two third place finishes in relays over a pair of meets last week. Against Mary Washington, Perdomo won the 1000-yard freestyle in 11:33.34 and the 100-yard butterfly in 1:01.34. She added a second place finish in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:16.23, and helped R-MC to third in the 200-yard medley relay in 1:56.87. In a dual meet against Washington and Lee, Perdomo won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:02.36 and finished second in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:17.48. The Yellow Jackets' 200-yard medley relay again finished third in 1:58.15. Perdomo's 100-fly time against UMW is second in the ODAC. Click to learn more about the past week in ODAC SWIMMING

WOMEN'S SOCCER Mia Meinhardt, Virginia Wesleyan, Fr., Forward Meinhardt, a freshman from Midlothian, Va., helped Virginia Wesleyan maintain its tie atop the ODAC standings with Lynchburg with two more league victories last week. In a week in which the Marlins topped Emory & Henry ,4-0, Meinhardt made her presence felt with three points in a 2-1 victory over Bridgewater. Down 1-0 in the second half, she tucked in the game-tying goal in the 71st minute. The 1-1 score persisted thru regulation and to the 94th minute when Meinhardt picked the right time to register her first assist of the season with a feed to Zoe Traficante for the game-winning tally. The two wins give VWU 21 standings points and tied with Lynchburg with two conference games left to play for each squad. Meinhardt now has seven points on three goals and an assist. VOLLEYBALL Meg Guignon, Washington and Lee, Jr., Outside Hitter Guignon, a junior from St. Louis, Mo., blistered on the outside for Washington and Lee as the Generals racked up two more wins. Guignon accounted for 37 total points a 6.2 per set in a pair of 3-0 victories. She opened with 19 kills against just two errors while hitting .447 in a win over Averett. She added six digs and a pair of blocks. She followed that with 16 winners versus just one miscue for a .484 attack percentage. She chipped in 16 digs, two assists, and an ace. For the season, Guignon leads the ODAC in kills per set (3.27) and points per set (3.6), while ranking second in total points (282.0) and third in total kills (258) and total attacks (812).
