ODAC Athletes of the Week | Basketball

FOREST, Va. --- Thanksgiving week may have limited the number of sports in action to basketball and the amount of games in play, but that certainly didn't keep ODAC athletes from lighting up the scoreboard. Those earning weekly honors in men's and women's basketball are Peyton Williams from Emory & Henry and Christopher Chaney from Shenandoah.

MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Christopher Chaney | Shenandoah | Sr. | Forward
Chaney, a senior from Virginia Beach, Va., led Shenandoah to a trio of wins last week including the Hornets' ODAC opener in a 3-0 week. The run also included the 100th career victory for head coach Adam Walsh in SU's 101-95 win over Emory & Henry. Chaney scored a team-best 28 points in that contest as he was 12-of-22 from the field and pulled down 13 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. He added two assists and a pair of blocked shots. Chaney opened his week with 19 points and five rebounds in a 66-50 triumph over Juniata. He chipped in two assists, two blocked shots, and a steal. Chaney was again over 20 points in the week-capper against Gallaudet as he poured in 21 points that featured a 7-of-7 showing at the stripe in a 74-60 victory. He added nine rebounds and three assists to his line. For the season, Chaney is fourth in the ODAC in scoring (19.0) and rebounding (9.4). He is seventh in free throws made (25-of-35) and 11th in total points scored (95).

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Peyton Williams | Emory & Henry | Sr. | Forward
Williams, a senior from Saltville, Va., picks up her second weekly award of the season after leading Emory & Henry to an 84-80 overtime victory at Washington and Lee University in the Wasps' ODAC opener. It is the second OT win for E&H this season (77-70 at Piedmont). Williams stood out on both ends of the floor as she checked Generals' all-league guard Taylor Casey and held her to 5-of-15 shooting with four turnovers. Williams responded with a career-high 24 points on 6-of-12 from the field and 12-of-14 from the foul line in a game-best 42-minute shift. She pulled down eight rebounds and dished out three assists to go with a steal and a blocked shot. For the season, Williams is tied atop the ODAC with teammate Sydney McKinney in scoring (17.1) and rebounding (10.1). She leads the league in overall points (120), rebounds (71), free throws made (33-of-42), minutes played (251), and minutes played per game (35.9). She is second in field goals made (39-of-78) and third in field goal shooting (50.0%).
