Dr. Nancy Hubbard Elected NCAA FARA Division III Vice-President

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- The NCAA's Faculty Athletics Representatives Association executive board named University of Lynchburg's Dr. Nancy Hubbard as its Division III vice president for the 2019-20 year, the organization decided last month at its annual meeting.

Hubbard, one of Lynchburg's FARs and dean of the College of Business, will serve on the NCAA FARA's 17-member leadership board.

"Lynchburg faculty athletic representatives have helped set the standard nationally for the position's impact on Division III campuses," Lynchburg director of athletics Jon Waters said. "We are excited for Dr. Hubbard to have such a great opportunity to serve nationally and continue to share with others the empowering connection that exists on our campus between faculty, student-athletes, and coaches."

Hubbard's duties include planning of FARA meetings for the upcoming year and advocacy for Division III as a liaison to NCAA national leadership.

She will work closely with the NCAA FARA president Dr. Joan Davison (Rollins College), president-elect Dr. Jo Hopp (University of Wisconsin-Stout) and the rest of the executive board.

The NCAA FARA exists to clarify and amplify the collective voice of FARs at the national level and provide support and developmental opportunities for member institutions' FARs.

Hubbard came to Lynchburg's College of Business in the summer of 2018 from Goucher College in Towson, Md., where she was the director of that institution's College of Education, Business and Professional Studies as well as the FAR for the Gophers' athletic department. She shares FAR duties at Lynchburg with Dr. Adam Dean of the history department.

Hubbard was a standout swimmer at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and graduated from Georgetown in 1985 with a degree in business administration and an art history minor.

She holds master's and doctoral degrees from University of Oxford in England and has worked extensively in business education since in the United Kingdom, France, Russia, and the United States.
