Updated: July 14, 2023

FOREST, Va. --- ODAC student-athletes won titles and set records up and down league and school histories during the 2022-23 campaign. But that success was not limited to their athletic arenas with conference student-athletes excelling in the classroom. Conference leadership is proud to recognize 2,514 honorees on the 2022-23 ODAC All-Academic Team.

The ODAC All-Academic Team features more than 2,500 individuals for the fourth straight season. The record stands at 2,681 honorees from the 2019-20 academic year. There were 2,560 recognized in 2020-21 and 2,519 in 2021-22.

Eligibility for the ODAC All-Academic Team is open to any student-athlete that competes in a conference-sponsored sport, regardless of academic class. Prospective honorees must achieve at least a 3.25 grade point average for the academic year to be considered for ODAC All-Academic Team recognition.

A conference-record six schools eclipsed 200 honorees with 11 members featuring 100 or more representatives. Washington and Lee University set two new benchmarks in leading the league table. W&L is the first school in ODAC history to recognize more than 500 student-athletes with a league and school-record 529 honorees. The University of Lynchburg joined W&L as the only school with more than 300 honorees at a record 306 recognized individuals.

Bridgewater College, Randolph-Macon College, Roanoke College, and Shenandoah University each featured more than 200 honorees. Randolph-Macon saw 211 Yellow Jackets earn all-academic distinction. Bridgewater, Roanoke, Shenandoah each set new school records at 244, 228, and 296 honorees, respectively.

Averett University honored 110 Cougars to set a high benchmark following its first season as a full-time member of the ODAC. Greensboro College, an associate member of the league in swimming and wrestling, saw its representation increase to a school-record 12 honorees.

Several streaks of over 100 all-academic members continue for at least one more season. Guilford College (176), Ferrum College (170), and Virginia Wesleyan University (161) were joined by Eastern Mennonite University (113) in maintaining long-standing runs of more than 100 honorees. EMU was just five student-athletes shy of its school-record representation. Hampden-Sydney College (97) was just three honorees away from the century mark.

Randolph College, Hollins University, and Sweet Briar College were all within 10 student-athletes of their record totals. Randolph (81) were nine short of setting a new WildCats' benchmark. Hollins (64) was less than a handful off its record of 67 honorees, while Sweet Briar (64) was even closer to its 2014-15 high-point of 66 honorees.
