The ODAC is in the midst of transitioning to its winter sports as the fall disciplines continue through NCAA tournament action. In swimming, Dani Humphrey spearheaded SBC's effort in its meet against W&L. Humphrey won both the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly events, posting times that would rank within the league's top five in both events this season.
11/15/09
Freshman midfielder Shelley Hoath scored 24 minutes into the game and the defense made the lead stand up as the Lynchburg women's soccer defeated Washington and Lee 2-0 in the second round of the 2009 NCAA Tournament. The Hornets advance into the Sweet 16 of the tourney.
11/15/09
The ODAC football season has come to an end, but gridiron action will continue for several more weeks. H-SC joins 31 other teams vying for the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl on December 19. The Tigers topped R-MC, 34-17, to earn its place in the NCAA tourney. E&H closed out its season with a 17-3 win over GC. BC ended 2009 with a 30-13 win over CUA.
11/14/09
The 115th edition of “The Game” was more like a mud bowl following days of rain, but that didn’t stop H-SC from finishing the regular season undefeated with a 34-27 win at R-MC. The victory secured the Tigers their sixth ODAC title and cemented a place for them in the NCAA D-III Tournament through the league’s automatic qualifier.
11/14/09
Lynchburg's Ricky Flynn (above) led a strong ODAC showing at the South/Southeast Regional Cross Country Championships on Saturday, hosted by Guilford College. The Hornet men finished second overall, which qualifies for the NCAA D-III Championships in Cleveland, Ohio, next weekend.
