Lady Lions Extinguish Wasps For Fourth Straight Shutout

Piedmont College Athletic Communications

Macie Rooke scored the game-winner in today's 2-0 home victory over Emory & Henry College.
Box Score DEMOREST, Georgia – The Piedmont College women's soccer team stretched its season-opening winning streak to four matches with a 2-0 victory over visiting Emory & Henry College this afternoon at PC's Walker Field.  The Lady Lions' defense has also extended its streak of shutouts to four matches as the team moves to 4-0 on the season.

After a scoreless first half, MACIE ROOKE was able to break through with a goal in the game's 61st minute on the assist coming on a cross from DILYN MACLEAN.  Just nine minutes later at the 70:00 minute mark, NIKKI MEANS' unassisted goal gave the Lady Lions' the much-needed insurance goal.

Defensively, the Lady Lions were solid yet again as they now have not allowed a goal through four matches.  Offensively, PC outshot E&H 14-6 and doubled the Wasps up in corners 6-3.

“This was another good win for us today as our fitness came through in the second half on a hot day.  CYDNEY GOODWIN and SARAH HILL were solid for us in the back allowing us to win the ball in the midfield and get a lot of chances moving forward,” stated head coach Stephen Andrew.

Piedmont will return to action on September 12 when the squad travels west to Birmingham, AL to take on Birmingham Southern College with kick off set for 7:00 EST.
