Box Score

RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini men's basketball team avenged a season-ending loss in the 2010 NCAA Tournament with tonight's come-from-behind 98-91 victory over Randolph-Macon College at Nerney Field House.  The nonconference victory keeps the No. 4 Cavaliers perfect on the season at 9-0.

Junior Aaron Walton-Moss had another monster night, connecting on 16-21 from the floor to match a season-high with 40 points, to go with 10 rebounds, seven assists and three steals.  Senior A.J. Picard added 20 points and six assists, including 4-5 from three point range.

Freshman Deryl Bagwell tallied 13 points off the bench, while senior Jon Miller recorded his second double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 boards.
After surrendering the game's first bucket, the Cavaliers put together an 18-2 spurt to build a 14 point lead five minutes into the game.  The Yellow Jackets pulled back into the game with an impressive display of three point shooting, hitting 7-13 from deep in the opening 20 minutes.

Despite shooting 48.6% from the floor and outrebounding R-MC 27-17, Cabrini could not pull away.  Junior reserve Chris Hamilton hit R-MC's final three pointer of the half at the buzzer, sending the teams into the break tied at 44.

The Yellow Jackets continued their spurt in the second half, scoring the first five points of the second stanza.  A Walton-Moss lay-up cut Cabrini's deficit back to 49-48 before a 7-1 run put R-MC ahead 56-49 with 16:10 to play. Cabrini's seven point deficit marked its largest deficit of the season.  Less than five minutes later, Picard and Walton-Moss combined for five consecutive points, sandwiching a Yellow Jacket turnover, leveling the score at 64.

Following a Randolph-Macon bucket, Bagwell stepped on the floor and knocked down a triple, giving Cabrini its first lead of the half at 67-66 with 10:48 to play.  Junior Vinny Walls' three point play extended Cabrini's lead to 76-71 before the Yellow Jackets rallied again.  R-MC tied the score at 80 with 4:46 on the clock, setting up a fantastic finish.

The Yellow Jackets continued to convert their offensive chances, but the Blue and White matched them trip for trip, evening the score at 82 and 85.  Down by two, Bagwell forced a Yellow Jackets' foul and calmly stepped to the line where he knocked in a pair of free throws with 1:22 on the clock, evening the score at 87.

With the game in the balance, the Cavaliers turned up its defensive pressure, forcing an R-MC turnover.  On the ensuing possession, Walton-Moss' jumper with 0:52 put the Blue and White ahead for good.  Cabrini forced three turnovers in the game's final minute, as freshman Brennan McCann and Picard combined to go 4-4 from the free throw line in the final 34 seconds.  Miller's dunk and Walton-Moss' steal and three point play sealed the victory.

The Blue and White connected on 60% from the floor in the second half, while holding the Yellow Jackets to 5-12 from deep.  The Cavaliers forced 11 second half turnovers and converted them into 17 points.

Hamilton led the Yellow Jackets (4-4) with 23 points including 5-9 from three point range, while Plymouth Meeting native Marcus Badger added 18 points and six assists.

The Blue and White will break for the holiday before returning to action on January 2 when No. 20 Wesley College visits Nerney Field House.  The game will mark the return of former Cavalier guard A.J. Williams who is an assistant for the Wolves.  Tip is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
