ST. THOMAS, Virgin Islands – Senior captain Alexis Wegrzynek (Wilbraham, Mass.) tallied 14 points and 13 rebounds to earn Tournament MVP honors in Nichols College's 71-49 loss to Randolph-Macon at the St. Thomas Classic Friday morning.

Classmate Sarah Whitestone (Dalton, Mass.) added 13 points while junior Jessica Kelliher (Marshfield, Mass.) netted 10 points. Nichols shot 29 percent from the floor (18-of-63) and was outrebounded 56-40.

Junior Hannah Livermon (Powhatan, Va.) scored a game-high 20 points for the Yellow Jackets. Senior Sarah Parsons (Glen Allen, Va.) chipped in with 14 points while junior Katie Anderson (Beaverdam, Va.) registered a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Randolph-Macon led by five at the break (37-32) and outscored the Bison 34-17 in the second half to pull away for the seventh win of the season against only two losses.

Nichols (4-5) hosts Curry January 6 at 5:30 p.m.
