Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Lynchburg capitalized early on Tuesday afternoon and took away a 3-0 victory over the Methodist men's soccer team.

Lynchburg (1-0) scored in the first minute of the game when Donald Hart recovered a free ball in box and shot to the upper left corner. Methodist (0-1) had two shots in the first half, but the Hornets goalkeeper Danny Town recovered both.

Nearly 10 minutes into the second half Michael Abbonizio slipped one past the Monarchs' goalkeeper Kyle Beach on the assist from Hart. Hart connected with Abbonizio again in the 59th minute of play to give Lynchburg the 3-0 lead. Methodist had more opportunities in the second half, but Town preserved the shutout for the Hornets.

Beach made two saves in goal for the Monarchs while Town finished with five stops for Lynchburg.

The Monarchs will travel to Guilford this weekend to take on Milligan College and Gallaudet University.
