LYNCHBURG, Va. -- The Methodist women's lacrosse team outscored Randolph, 11-3, in the second half to pull out a 14-10 win over the WildCats on Saturday morning at WildCat stadium.

Randolph (2-5) closed the first half and opened the second half with three straight goals to take its largest lead of the game, 8-3, with 26:41 to play. The Monarchs (6-3), however, came roaring back with eight consecutive goals in a 10-minute span to take an 11-8 lead with 16:35 left on the clock.

Emily Brennen began the run with back-to-back tallies to pull MU within 8-5.
Cassie Walter added a goal before Brennen struck for two more that made it an 8-8 contest with 19:49 left to play. Walter gave the Monarchs a 9-8 lead 24 seconds later, and
Maddi Ronelli and
Sareena Coleman each scored to push out to the aforementioned 11-8 lead.

Alysaa Umberger put an end to the Monarch scoring run, making it an 11-9 contest at the 13:05 mark, but Ronelli, Walter and
Emily Creasy tacked on three more goals for MU for a 14-9 lead with just under four minutes to play. Taylor Klevenz capped the scoring with an unassisted goal for Randolph with 1:18 on the clock.

The WildCats opened the game with a 5-1 scoring burst over the first 22:20 of the contest to put Methodist in an early four-goal hole en route to their four-goal lead (7-3) at the break.

Methodist outshot Randolph, 33-16, including 20-6 in the second half. Methodist also had 18 ground balls to 10 for the WildCats, and MU won the draw control battle, capturing 15 draws to 10 for Randolph.

Samantha Fagone took the loss in the cage for Randolph, making 13 saves on the day.
Emily Ewin earned the win, making four saves.

Brennen led MU with a career-high five goals, and Walter finished with four goals and two assists. Ronelli added three goals on the day.
Hope Motahari was dominant in the draw circle, winning a game-high eight draws while adding three ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers. Ronelli, Walter and
Bianca Terenzi each had three ground balls, and Terenzi also caused four turnovers.

Klevenz led the WildCats with six goals, and Erin Campbell scored twice. Klevenz also had three draw controls, and Campbell scooped up three ground balls.

Methodist is back at home on Wednesday when it hosts Greensboro at 5:00 pm.
