Randolph Leads the Way with Over 8,000 Items Donated
SALEM, Va. --- The Old Dominion Athletic
Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (ODAC SAAC) recently
completed its fourth-annual conference wide canned food
drive. The canned food drive took place over the course of
the spring semester and concluded late last month.
The drive was a huge success with the conference SAACs working to
collect food items for local food pantries and shelters across
Virginia and North Carolina. The league accumulated 16,323 items
that were donated late last month. This year's total bested
last year's mark of 15,845 cans.
Each campus SAAC kept count to determine which school had the most
successful food drive. Randolph College easily won the contest for
the second year in a row by doubling its count from last year and
collecting 8,534 total items. Washington and Lee University
finished in second with 2,175 items donated followed by Sweet Briar
College with 1,271 items.
