ODAC Players of the Week

BASEBALL
Kyle Henshaw, Bridgewater, Sr.,
Pitcher
Henshaw, a senior from New Kent, Va.,
put together a strong outing in leading the Eagles to a 5-1 win at
home over Christopher Newport. Henshaw fired seven innings, giving
up one unearned run on five hits with one walk and three
strikeouts. He is now 3-1 on the season, lowering his earned run
average to 1.29 to take over third in the ODAC.

BASEBALL
Michael Paul, Shenandoah, Jr., Third
Base
Paul, a junior from Red Hill, Pa.,
strengthened his grip on the ODAC batting lead on the way to
picking up his third straight weekly award. Paul hit .556 in three
Hornets' wins, going 10-for-18 from the dish with two doubles,
three homers and 15 runs batted in. He also scored seven times and
racked up a 1.167 slugging percentage. He had four hits each in
wins over Dickinson (14-5) and Virginia Wesleyan (21-5), adding
seven RBI against DC. Both of his knocks in an 18-7 win over
Franklin & Marshall left the yard. For the season, Paul leads
the ODAC in batting average (.495), RBI (46), total bases (78) and
slugging (.839). He's tied for first in homers (7).

GOLF
Tyler Weeks, Bridgewater,
So.
Weeks, a sophomore from Bassett, Va.,
led Bridgewater to a 14th overall team finish at the Marine Corps
Federal Credit Union Intercollegiate Championship at Camp Lejeune.
After opening with a three-over 75 on the longer and tougher Gold
Course at Paradise Point, Weeks carded a school-record 64 on the
par-70 Scarlet Course. His three-under 139 finish -- which also set
a BC record for lowest 36-hole score --- tied for second amongst
160 total competitors, but he was awarded third on a scorecard
playoff with Stuart Winsby from Webber International
University.

GOLF
Olivia Bowling, Randolph-Macon,
So.
Bowling a sophomore from Charlotte
Hall, Md., finished second overall at the Randolph-Macon
Invitational hosted at Hanover Country Club. He posted a five-over
77 to finish one shot off medalist Kelsie Carralero (76) from
Methodist University. Bowling led R-MC to a second place team
finish at 357.

MEN'S LACROSSE
Thomas Armstrong, Hampden-Sydney, Jr.,
Midfielder
Armstrong, a junior from Charlotte,
N.C., helped the Tigers to a pair of wins last week. On Wednesday,
Armstrong scored twice and helped out on another tally in
Hampden-Sydney's 9-5 at Greensboro. He followed that with three
goals and an assist in an 11-5 home triumph over Virginia Wesleyan.
Armstrong leads H-SC with 28 points on 19 goals and nine assists.
He has four man-up goals this season, which ranks fifth in the
ODAC.

MEN'S TENNIS
Fitzhugh Johnson, Hampden-Sydney,
Fr.
Johnson, a freshman from
Fredericksburg, Va., put together a perfect 4-0 week as the Tigers
won a pair of ODAC matches last week. In a 6-3 win over Guilford,
Johnson won 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 at #2 singles. He followed that with an
8-4 win at #1 doubles with partner J.B. Weaver. In a 9-0 win over
Shenadoah, Johnson won 6-0, 6-0 at #2 singles, and against teamed
with Weaver for an 8-3 win at #1 doubles.

OUTDOOR TRACK
Greg Wilson, Lynchburg, Sr.,
Throws
Wilson, a senior from Bourne, Va., had
a big day in the throwing areas at the Jopson Invitational hosted
by Bridgewater College. Wilson all three throwing events in which
he competed, taking over the top spot in the ODAC season rankings
in two of them. He won the discus with a throw of 43.00 meters
(141' 1.0"), which is the best in the conference by nearly three
feet. His toss of 54.47 meters (178' 8.0") in the hammer throw won
the event and is tops in the ODAC by more than 17 feet. He also won
the shot put at the Jopson Invitational with a heave of 14.37
meters (47' 1.75"), which is second in the league to his own
earlier throw at the Dr. Jack Toms Invitational earlier this
season.

OUTDOOR TRACK
Dana Lee, Washington and Lee, Fr.,
Jumps/Sprints
Lee, a freshman from Nashville, Tenn.,
competed in four events and won twice at the Commonwealth Duals
over the weekend. Lee took over the top spot on the ODAC seasonal
lists in the long jump by winning the event with a leap of 5.30
meters (17' 11.5"). She also won the 100-meter dash in a time of
12.90 seconds, which ranks fifth in the league. Lee capped her
individual showing in the triple jump by finishing second at 10.93
meters (35' 10.5"), which is good for third in the ODAC. Lee also
ran a leg of the Generals' 4x100-meter relay team which placed
third at the Duals in 50.96 seconds.

SOFTBALL
Kristina Karagiorgis, Virginia Wesleyan,
Jr., Pitcher
Karagiorgis, a junior from Ashburn,
Va., picked up both wins as the Marlins swept Mary Washington last
week. In a five inning shortened 10-1 win in game one, Karagiorgis
started and worked the first three frames, giving up on unearned on
four hits with two walks and four strikeouts. She also started game
two, an 8-1 win for VWC. She went six innings and gave up no runs
on three hits with two free passes and five punchouts. Karagiorgis
also got it done at the dish, going 4-for-6 with two RBI. She is
now tied atop the conference with 10 wins, improving to 10-2 with
an ODAC second-best 1.19 earned run average.

SOFTBALL
Christine Simon, Randolph-Macon, So.,
Outfielder
Simon, a sophomore from Richmond, Va.,
helped lead Randolph-Macon to a doubleheader sweep of Methodist
University last week. She went 6-for-9 over the two games,
including a 4-for-5 showing with a double, two runs scored and a
run batted in towards a 10-1 win in game one. In a 5-3 triumph in
game two, Simon smacked a double and a triple with two RBI. She
also walked once. Simon collected a .700 on-base percentage and
slugged 1.111 in the series. She's currently fourth in the ODAC
with a .510 batting average and third with a .574 OBP.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE
Lily Colley, Guilford, Sr.,
Attack/Midfielder
Colley, a senior from Wells, Maine,
increased her margin on the ODAC points and assists leads as she
picks up her third straight weekly award. Colley led Guilford to a
1-1 showing as she scored seven times and dished out three assists
in a 20-18 loss to Farmingdale State, which is receiving
recognition towards the latest IWLCA national poll. It marks her
second game with 10 or more points this season. Colley followed
with three goals and four assists in an 18-5 triumph against Sweet
Briar. She picked up nine ground balls on the week while also
causing four turnovers. College leads the ODAC in points (69) and
assists (31). She's third in goals scored (38).

WOMEN'S TENNIS
Dina Velazco, Randolph,
So.
Velazco, a sophomore from
Barquisimeto, Venezuela, went 6-0 individually as the WildCats won
three matches. In a 6-0 win over Southern Virginia, Velazco won
6-1, 6-1 at #3 singles and joined partner Jenna Sweet in an 8-3 win
at #2 doubles. In a 5-3 win over Emory & Henry on Friday,
Velazco and Sweet won 8-4 at #2 doubles, with Velazco winning 6-4,
6-0 at #3 singles. in an 8-1 win over Virginia Wesleyan, Velazco
moved up to #2 singles and posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory. She and Sweet
won 8-3 at #2 doubles.
