ODAC Players of the Week

BASEBALL
Brandon Miller, Lynchburg, Jr.,
Pitcher
Miller, a junior from Vesuvius, Va.,
recorded back-to-back complete game victories last week for the
Hornets. He opened with nine full innings to earn an 8-1 win over
Eastern Mennonite. He gave up the one run on five hits without a
walk. He fanned seven Royals. He struck out seven Yellow Jackets
over the weekend as Lynchburg topped Randolph-Macon, 16-0. Miller
again went all nine frames, shutting out R-MC on seven hits while
walking a pair. Miller has won a conference-best seven games
against three losses. He boasts a 2.58 earned run average covering
an ODAC-high 66.1 innings of work.

BASEBALL
Justin Petock, Bridgewater, So., Third
Base/DH
Petock, a sophomore from Woodbridge,
Va., helped lead the Eagles to a 6-0 week that included four
conference victories. Petock went 9-for-25 in the six wins,
collecting at least one hit in each game. Among his nine knocks
were a double and homer, helping him to 11 runs batted in and six
runs scored. He drove in five runs and had a pair of hits in the
Eagles 12-6 win over Shenandoah. He also had multiple RBI in game
one of a doubleheader sweep of Hampden-Sydney, hitting a three-run
homer towards a 9-6 victory. Petock is batting .337, tops among
BC's starters.

GOLF
Elijah Tacket, Bridgewater,
So.
Tacket, a sophomore from Roanoke, Va.,
won the Roanoke Spring Invitational by one struck over Scott
Obenshain from Ferrum College. His efforts led Bridgewater to a
share of the team title with Mars Hill College at 608. Tackett
opened with a three-over 74 on the 6,546-yard par-71 layout at the
Roanoke Country Club. He followed that with a two over 73 in round
two to finish at five-over 147. The individual win is the first for
Tackett in his collegiate career and the second for Bridgewater
this season.

MEN'S LACROSSE
Kevin Jackson, Roanoke, Fr.,
Attack
Jackson, a freshman from Baltimore,
Md., helped the Maroons to a pair of conferenc wins, including a
triumph over ninth-ranked Lynchburg. Jackson opened his week with
three goals and one assist in a 15-4 win at Shenandoah. He followed
that with five goals and a ground ball in a 13-7 home victory over
Lynchburg. Jackson is tied for the team lead with 28 goals, which
is sixth in the ODAC. His 37 points ranked ninth in the league.

MEN'S TENNIS
Brandon Larsen, Bridgewater, Jr., No. 1
Singles, No. 1/2 Doubles
Larsen, a junior from Woodbridge, Va.,
went 6-0 as the Eagles posted a 2-1 record in ODAC play last week
as BC defeated Shenandoah (9-0) and Hampden-Sydney (6-3) and fell
to Virginia Wesleyan (6-3). Larsen won three times in singles
action, all from the top flight. He defeated his counterparts from
SU (6-1, 6-3), H-SC (6-3, 6-1) and VWC (6-4, 6-2). He partnered
with teammate Thomas Rischoff at #2 doubles all week, earned 8-4,
8-0 and 8-3 wins, respectively. Larsen is now 11-4 overall and 5-1
in the ODAC at #1 singles.

OUTDOOR TRACK
Ben Martindell, Bridgewater, Sr.,
Hurdles
Martindell, a senior from Nokesville,
Va., put together a pair of strong performances in the hurdles at
the Liberty Collegiate Invitational. He won the 110-meter hurdles
with a time of 15.12 seconds, taking over the top spot in the ODAC.
That time also ranks 27th in NCAA Division III. He followed that by
placing fourth in the 400-meter hurldes in 56.83 seconds. That time
sits fourth on the conference's seasonal list.

OUTDOOR TRACK
Jaclyn Mohlmann, Shenandoah, Jr.,
Heptathlon
Mohlmann, a junior from Annandale,
Va., competed in the 400-meter hurdles and the heptathlon at the
Liberty Collegiate Invitational. She placed third in the heptathlon
with 4,323 points in a field dominated by non-Division III
competitors. She moved into the top-five in several events thru the
competition, including the top spot in the 100-meter hurldes with a
time of 15.53 seconds. On the ODAC charts, she's now tied for
second in the high jump (4' 11.75"), tied for fourth in the long
jump (16' 6.0") and fifth in the 800-meter run (2:24.34) She's also
fourth in the 400-meter hurldes after placing third at Liberty in
1:09.95.

SOFTBALL
Kelsey McLaughlin, Randolph-Macon, Fr.,
Pitcher
McLaughlin, a freshman from Richmond,
Va., went 3-1 in four appearances for the Yellow Jackets covering
29.0 innings in the circle. She picked up her first win in a 4-3
triumph against Guilford. She worked a full 10 innings giving up
three runs on 10 hits with one walk and six strikeouts. She
followed that with a more traditional complete game, surrendering
one uneared run on six hits in seven innings of work. He loss came
via a 3-2 defeat to Randolph where she gave up three runs (two
earned) on nine hits with three strikeouts during her third
complete effort of the week. Her final victory came in extended
relief as she went five scoreless innings in game two versus
Randolph, earning a 7-3 win. She gave up four hits and fanned four
in that outing. McLaughlin is now 8-4 on the season with a 2.03
earned run average, good for fifth in the ODAC.

SOFTBALL
Brooke Hensley, Eastern Mennonite, Sr.,
Shortstop
Hensley, a senior from Elkton, Va.,
helped the Royals to a 4-2 in ODAC play that included a
doubleheader sweep of Randolph College. Hensley hit .579 on the
week, going 11-for-19 with a double, a homer, six runs driven in
and eight runs scored. She also walked twice towards a .636 on-base
percentage. She collected at least one hit in each game. He had a
pair of three-hit efforts against Randolph, driving in three runs
and scoring four times in the two wins. She belted her second home
run of the year in an 8-3 win over Emory & Henry. Hensley is
now batting .333 with 15 RBI.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE
E'leyna Garcia, Guilford, Sr.,
Attack
Garcia, a senior from Plantation,
Fla., racked up an 11-point week as the Quakers won two ODAC road
games, making it six wins in seven for GC. Garcia scored notched
eight points in a 15-10 win at Roanoke, including six tallies in
the second half push away from a 6-6 tie at the half. Garcia
followed with two goals and an assist in a 12-7 triumph at
Bridgewater. Garcia currently leads the ODAC in goals scored with
54 and second in points with 69. For her career, she sits fourth in
the ODAC history with 327 points and fifth with 255 goals.

WOMEN'S TENNIS
Stella Di Michele, Emory & Henry,
Fr., No. 1 Singles/No. 1 Doubles
Di Michele, a freshman from San Remo,
Italy, went 4-0 last week to help the Wasps to a 1-1 showing with
just four team players in each match. Di Michele won 6-2, 6-3 at #1
singles against Virginia Wesleyan. She and teammate Lauren Riner
took down the Marlins' #1 duo, 8-3, in doubles action. Di Michele
and Riner won by the same score at #1 doubles against Guilford. Di
Michele dropped just one game in winning at #1 singles (6-0, 6-1),
helping E&H to a 6-3 team win. Di Michele is currently 11-1
overall and 6-1 in the ODAC at #1 singles this season.
