ODAC Players of the Week

INDOOR TRACK
Ethan Fowlkes, Virginia Wesleyan, Sr., Jumps/Sprints
Fowlkes, a senior from Quinton, Va., competed in three events at the 2015 schedule-opening Liberty Open over the weekend. He finished second overall and was the highest-ranked NCAA Division III competitor in the long jump, setting a new ODAC season top-mark of 6.74 meters (22' 1.50"), which ranks 16th in the country. He posted a second ODAC top-three finish in the triple jump, placing fourth among D-III competitors with a leap of 12.85 meters (42' 2.0"). He also competed in the 60-meter dash, chiming in 10th among D-III competitors at 7.51 seconds.

INDOOR TRACK
Aleshia Washington, Lynchburg, Sr., Sprints/Jumps
Washington, a senior from Virginia Beach, Va., competed in a trio of events at the 2015 season-opening Liberty Open, taking part in two sprints and a jump. She finshed second overall behind a former NCAA Division I competitor in the long jump with an ODAC-best leap of 5.44 meters (17' 10.25"). That mark currently ranks sixth in NCAA Division III. Washington was also the top D-III finisher in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.07 seconds, just short of the 8.02 she ran before the flip of the calendar. She also added a ninth-place effort in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.88 seconds.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
David Falk, Eastern Mennonite, Sr., Center
Falk, a senior from Madison, Va., helped Eastern Mennonite to its 10th and 11th wins of the season with a pair of double-doubles to give him an ODAC-best 10 on the season. Falk opened with 14 points and 18 rebounds to go with three blocked shots in a 77-67 win over cross-town rival Bridgewater. The 18 rebounds -- eight of which came via the offensive glass -- tied his own mark for the most this season. In a 90-81 double-overtime win at Hampden-Sydney, Falk bettered his previous superlative with 21 boards to go with 17 points. He gave the Royals seven second-chance opportunities with his offensive caroms, accounting for 15 on the week. In the win over H-SC, Falk twice sent the game into extra time with tying layups at the end of regulation and the first overtime period. For the season, Falk is averaging 12.7 points and an ODAC-best 13.1 rebounds per game. The latter mark is third in NCAA Division III. He also leads the ODAC in blocked shots (39) and all rebounding categories -- offensive (68), defensive (129) and overall (197). The 39 blocks are seventh in D-III.

SWIMMING
Brennan Haley, Washington and Lee, So.
Haley, a sophomore from Westfield, N.J., helped the Generals trounce Catholic University in a dual meet last week. Haley won twice individually and was a member of a winning relay squad. Haley touched the wall first in the 100-yard backstroke, posting a time of 0:53.69. He went on to capture the 100-yard butterfly crown in 0:52.47. He and his teammates won the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:37.87. Haley's backstroke time bettered his previous season-best and strengthened his hold on the third-lowest time in the ODAC. In the butterfly, Haley already owns the league's best mark.

SWIMMING
Kira Tomenchok, Washington and Lee, Fr.
Tomenchok, a freshman from Richmond, Va., picks up her second weekly award of the season after helping the Generals to a dual meet victory over Catholic University. Tomenchok won the 100-yard backstroke in 0:59.84, an event in which she already owns the league's best mark. She also won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:00.95. She and her teammates captured the top prize in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:03.90.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Shannon Allan, Lynchburg, Sr., Forward
Allan, senior from Warwick, N.Y., helped Lynchburg move into a tie for first place in the ODAC with a trio of wins last week, including two ODAC triumphs with one coming against previously ODAC-unbeaten Eastern Mennonite. Allan, who shot 57.1-percent (20-of-35) for the week, opened with 19 points on 6-of-9 shooting and 3-of-4 from deep towards 19 points in LC's 72-53 victory over cross-town rival Randolph. She made all four shots from the stripe while collecting two rebounds and a pair of steals. She then hit 7-of-10 overall and 1-of-2 from deep on the way to 15 points with two boards, three assists and a blocked shot in a non-conference win over Salem, 87-58. Allan capped her week with 17 points, three boards, three assists, a steal and a blocked shot in the Hornets' 70-66 triumph over EMU. She notched 12 markers in the second half as LC staved away any EMU comeback attempt. For the season, Allan is fifth in the ODAC in scoring at 16.0 points per game. She's third in total points (240) and free throw shooting (84.3%; 43-of-51) and sixth in three-point prowess (38.0%; 19-of-50).
