ODAC Players of the Week

INDOOR TRACK
Ian McDonald, Washington and Lee, So.,
Mid-Distance/Distance
McDonald, a sophomore from Richmond,
Va., etched his name into both the Washington and Lee and ODAC
record books after his performance at the UCS Invitational hosted
at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C. McDonald was the top
collegiate finisher in the mile run and third overall, posting a
time of 4:12.51. That topped McDonald's previous W&L record of
4:15.24, and also eclipsed the ODAC standard of 4:14.25 set by
former Lynchburg College All-American Ricky Flynn in 2009.
McDonald's time is tops in the ODAC this season and ninth in NCAA
Division III.

INDOOR TRACK
Hannah Chappell-Dick, Eastern Mennonite,
Jr., Mid-Distance
Chappell-Dick, a junior from Bluffton,
Ohio, carved her name into the ODAC and Eastern Mennonite record
books after a strong day at the UCS Invitational hosted at JDL Fast
Track in Winston-Salem, N.C. Chappell-Dick placed sixth overall and
tops among NCAA Division III competition in the mile run, eclipsing
the 5:00-mark for the first time in her career with at 4:56.37. The
time snapped her own EMU record of 5:05.65 set earlier this season.
He also reset the ODAC standard of 4:58.17 set by former Roanoke
College All-American, Carmen Graves, in 2013. Chappell-Dick's time
is currently fourth in the nation. She's one of only 12 runners in
D-III to run a sub-5:00 mile this season.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Clayton Murtha, Washington and Lee, Fr.,
Forward
Murtha, a freshman from Dallas, Texas,
helped the Generals to a pair of ODAC wins to lock up the seventh
seed in the upcoming ODAC Tournament. Murtha averaged 27.5 points
over the two games, beginning with 24 points in a 72-64 in at
Roanoke. He was 5-of-11 from the field and nailed all 14 of his
foul shots. He added six rebounds, an assist and a blocked shot. In
a 76-74 win at Randolph, Murtha led all players with 31 points,
tying a career-high. He was 9-of-16 from the field and 13-of-15
from the stripe, making him 27-of-29 from the free throw line on
the week. He added 12 rebounds for his third double-double of the
season. He also dished out two assists and blocked a pair of shots.
Murtha is currently second in the ODAC in total points scored (429)
and third in scoring average (17.2 ppg). He leads the ODAC in free
throws made (157-of-202), is third in field goal shooting (53.8%;
136-of-253) and ninth in foul shooting (77.7%).

MEN'S LACROSSE
Cam Lewis, Washington and Lee, Sr.,
Attack
Lewis, a senior from Chapel Hill,
N.C., helped the Generals send Denison University to their first
regular season loss since April 2013 with an 11-5 triumph on the
road. Lewis exploded for eight goals, tying the Washington and Lee
record for goals in a game. Four Generals had previously score that
many goals, the last being Ande Jenkins in 1997. Lewis also picked
up three ground balls. He has nine goals and an assist in two games
so far this season.

MEN'S TENNIS
Brendan Kelleher, Virginia Wesleyan, So.,
No. 5/6 Singles
Kelleher, a sophmore from Baltimore,
Md., posted a trio of singles wins in the Marlins three-match
weekend. In VWC's 8-1 win over Chowan, Kelleher defeated Sasha
Kirsanov, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 6 singles. He posted a 2-6, 6-4, 7-5
triumph at No. 5 singles over Michael Dodd, giving VWC it's only
point against regionally 10th-ranked Christopher Newport. In a
tough 5-4 loss to Franklin & Marshall, which is ranked 12th in
the Atlantic South Region, Kelleher topped Evan Drapeau, 6-2, 6-2,
from the sixth flight. Virgnia Wesleyan is currently ranked 17th in
the South Region.

SOFTBALL
Hope Johnson, Lynchburg, Sr.,
Pitcher
Johnson, a senior from Evington, Va.,
got the win in Lynchburg's 7-0 triumph over Methodist over the
weekend. She hurled five scoreless frames, giving up one hit while
fanning three and not walking a batter. The win marks her first of
the season. She's thrown 14 innings in the early going.

SOFTBALL
Taylor Boyd, Guilford, So.,
Shortstop
Boyd, a sophomore from Franklinton,
N.C., helped the Quakers to a 2-2 week that included a sweep of
William Peace. The GC shortstop went 8-for-14 from the dish,
including a 6-for-8 effort in two against Averett. She scored four
runs, smacked a pair of doubles and sprinted her way to a triple.
She also drove in a run and walked once. For the week, she hit .571
with a .600 OBP and a .857 slugging percentage.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Anais Weatherly, Guilford, So.,
Forward
Weatherly, a sophomore from
Winston-Salem, N.C., helped the Quakers wrap up the fifth seed
going into the ODAC Tournament with a pair of wins last week.
Weatherly opened with 18 points, seven rebounds and three assists
in a 73-71 triumph at Emory & Henry. She was 8-of-17 from the
field. Weartherly followed that with a career-high 32 points to
help the Quakers to a 72-66 win over regionally-ranked Lynchburg.
She was 12-of-22 from the field and 7-of-8 from the charity. She
added five rebounds, three assists and four steals to her totals.
Weatherly is currently eighth in the ODAC in scoring at 14.2 points
per game. She's first in offensive rebounds (83) and third in total
rebounding (8.8 rpg), steals (62) and field goals made (152).

WOMEN'S LACROSSE
Rachel Levy, Shenandoah, Fr.,
Goalkeeper
Levy, a freshman from Mahopac, N.Y.,
helped Shenandoah to a 1-1 showing in its first two games of the
season. The Hornets goalkeeper made 20 combined saves. She had 10
stops in the season-opening loss to Mary Washington (15-6). She
helped SU rebound against Lebanon Valley, making 10 more saves to
preserve an 8-7 victory. Six came in the second-half.

WOMEN'S TENNIS
Sveva Mazzari, Emory & Henry, Fr.,
No. 1 Singles, No. 1 Doubles
Mazzari, a freshman from San Remo,
Italy, started off her spring season with a pair of clean victories
over her opponents from Salem College, helping lead E&H to a
5-4 team win. Mazzari topped Andrea Akers, 6-0, 6-0, to win at No.
1 singles. She and Chiara Mossi teamed up at No. 1 doubles and took
down Ashley Koehler and Kerri Morgan, 8-0.
