ODAC Players of the Week

FIELD HOCKEY
Alenka Ferrufino, Bridgewater, Jr.,
Attack
Ferrufino, a junior from Manassas,
Va., started off the 2014 season with a bang amidst stormy weather
over the weekend as the Eagles went 1-1. In a 4-1 victory over
Hendrix, Ferrufino scored twice in the first half before storms
forced the game to be halted. Ferrufino carried her momentum into
Sunday morning as she tallied a third time to open the season with
a hat-trick.

MEN'S SOCCER
Luke Moore, Lynchburg, Sr.,
Forward
Moore, a senior from Richmond, Va.,
led Lynchburg to a pair of victories at the season-opening Roanoke
Invitational. He started off with one goal and an assist in a 4-1
triumph over Averett University. He followed that the next day with
both goals in a 2-0 victory over Case Western Reserve University. A
two-time All-ODAC First Team selection, Moore leads all players in
the early going with seven total points.

WOMEN'S SOCCER
Brittany Hammons, Randolph, Sr.,
Midfielder
Hammons, a senior from Newport News,
Va., put together a strong opening weekend to help the WildCats to
a pair of wins to begin the 2014 season. On Friday, Hammons tallied
the game's lone goal in a 1-0 victory against Ferrum College. She
followed that with two goals and an assist in a 7-1 triumph over
Gallaudet University. Hammons leads the early season ODAC
statistical rankings with seven total points.

VOLLEYBALL
Courtney Lowers, Randolph-Macon, Jr.,
Outside Hitter
Lowers, a junior from Suffolk, Va.,
helped the Yellow Jackets open the season 2-1 that included a 1-1
showing at the Berry Invitational against nationally-ranked
competition. Randolph-Macon opened with a 3-0 win over N.C.
Wesleyan with Lowers collecting nine kills against no errors for a
.450 hitting percetage. In a 3-1 loss to second-ranked Emory
University, Lowers exploded for 22 kills and a .288 attack
percentage to go with 13 digs. She won 22 points in the match, the
most of any player. R-MC capped its tournament with a 3-1 win over
Berry, which received votes towards the AVCA national poll. Lowers
went for 13 kills and nine digs to seal her place on the
all-tournament team. For the week, Lowers smacked 44 winners at a
.280-clip with 29 digs over 11 sets in three matches.

CROSS COUNTRY
Harrison Toney, Roanoke,
Jr.
Toney, a junior from Roanoke, Va., got
his season started off on the right foot as he was the first
collegiate finisher at the ODAC Preview Meet, placing third
overall. He posted a time of 28:37.30 over the eight-kilometer
course, which will also serve as the site of the ODAC Championships
hosted by Guilford College. Toney's efforts help Roanoke finish
second in the team standings (50 pts.)

CROSS COUNTRY
Kat Lehman, Eastern Mennonite,
Fr.
Lehman, a freshman from Dover, Ohio,
started off her collegiate career in winning fashion as she topped
the rest of the field at the 2014 ODAC Preview Meet, hosted by
Guilford College. Lehman posted a time of 25:17.80 over
six-kilometer course, which will also serve as the ODAC
Championship site on November 1. Lehman bested her nearest
competitor by nearly 12-seconds, helping the Royals a third place
team finish (68 points).
