ODAC Players of the Week

Thru Week Prior to: September 29, 2014

FOOTBALL
Darrick Gore, Bridgewater, Sr., Defensive Back
Gore, a senior from Petersburg, Va., had a hand in all three turnovers forced by the Eagles in Saturday's 32-16 win over Apprentice School. In addition to six total tackles, Gore intercepted a pair of passes and recovered a fumble. In the first half, he helped prematurely end the Builder's final drive before halftime by picking up a loose ball caused by Nicholas Anthony. Gore added points for the BC defense on the second play of the fourth quarter. With the Eagles leading, 18-16, Gore intercepted a pass from Deon Lavender and returned it 20 yards for a touchdown. On the Builders very next possession, Gore ended it after three plays with his second interception, this one at the opponent's 21-yard line. Two plays later, Bridgewater tacked on another touchdown. Gore is tied for second in the ODAC with two interceptions.

FOOTBALL
Matt Perno, Catholic, So., Running Back
Perno, a sophomore from New Hyde Park, N.Y., registered his second straight rushing performance of more than 100 yards as the Cardinals set a season-high for points scored in their 54-25 road win at Anna Maria College. Perno carried the ball 17 times for 161 yards and three touchdowns, helping CUA to a season-best 232 yards on the ground. Perno recorded scoring runs of 27 and 67 yards in the first half before adding a six-yard effort in the third quarter. The 67-yard score is the longest run in the ODAC this season. Perno is now ranked third in the ODAC in rushing with 293 yards and 97.7 yards per game. His four touchdowns are tied atop the league.

FIELD HOCKEY
Caroline Augsburger, Bridgewater, Sr., Midfielder
Augsburger, a senior from Lancaster, Pa., helped the Eagles to a pair of wins last week, including one ODAC triumph. In a 5-3 win over Roanoke, she netted the first two goals of the game and then assisted on the next two Eagles' tallies as BC opened its conference slate with a victory. Later in the week, Augsburger scored once and helped out on another goal in Bridgewater's 4-1 win at Frostburg State. For the season, Augsburger is tied atop the ODAC with 15 points on five goals and five assists.

GOLF
Tanner Gross, Guilford, So.
Gross, a sophomore from Archdale, N.C., led the Quakers contingent at the Tournament Town Championship Preview, hosted by Guilford College. Gross tied for eighth overall with a three-round score of 219, carding rounds of 73, 72 and 74. His three-over-par efforts helped GC to a sixth-place team showing at 896 (300, 291, 305). The event featured 11 of the top-23 teams in the GCAA Division III Preseason Poll.

GOLF
Marin Warring, Bridgewater, Jr.
Warring, a junior from Williamsburg, Va., led the way for the Eagles with an 11-over-par 82 to earn individual medalist honors at the Stevenson Fall Invitational. Warring claimed the individual championship by four strokes over Stevenson's Alicia Greene. The individual title is the first of her career and is the first for a Bridgewater women's golfer. Her efforts helped Bridgewater to first out of five schools in the team standings with a 347 (+63).

MEN'S SOCCER
Max Chacon, Bridgewater, So., Forward
Chacon, a sophomore from Woodbridge, Va., helped the Eagles to a pair of wins last week, including their third conference win in as many games. In a 2-1 victory over Southern Virginia on Tuesday, Chacon netted the would-be game-winner in the 34th minute. He followed that up on Saturday by playing a part in three of BC's four goals in a 4-0 victory against Emory & Henry. Chacon scored the first and third goals of the game in the 22nd and 45th minute, and added an assist on the Eagles second tally. For the season, Chacon is tied for second in the ODAC with five goals scored and tied for fourth with 11 points.

WOMEN'S SOCCER
Caroline Hahn, Washington and Lee, Fr., Midfielder
Hahn, a freshman from Richmond, Va., led the Generals to a pair of tight ODAC wins last week, accounting for all of the Generals' scoring. On Wednesday, Hahn notched the only goal of the contest in a 1-0 victory over Sweet Briar. She continued her goal-scoring efforts on Saturday, netting the only two goals in a 2-0 win at Randolph. Hahn is tied for fourth in the ODAC with six goals scored. Her 13 points are tied for fifth.

VOLLEYBALL
Alex Lambert, Virginia Wesleyan, Sr., Middle Hitter
Lambert, a senior from Alexandria, Va., led the Marlins to a 4-1 week including a 4-0 showing at the York College (Pa.) Spartan Invitational. Lambert collected 54 total kills and accounted for 57.5 points while hitting .269 with seven total blocks and four digs from her middle position. She recorded four matches of at least nine kills, including a 17-kill effort with a .353 attack percentage in a 3-0 triumph over Albright College. She had 12 winners and four blocks in a 3-1 triumph over the host Spartans. The Marlins lone loss (3-1) of the week came to nationally ninth-ranked Christopher Newport, in which Lambert notched 11 kills and a block while hitting .258. For the season, Lambert is third in the ODAC in kills (199) and kills per set (3.43).

CROSS COUNTRY
Ryan Gehman, Eastern Mennonite, Sr.
Gehman, a senior from Millersville, Pa., earns his second straight weekly honor after leading the Royals to an 11th place team showing out of 31 squads at the NCAA Division III Preview Meet in Ohio. Gehman completed the eight-kilometer course in a time of 24:15.71, knocking nearly 1:17 off his personal record and placing 12th overall out of 375 runners. He was the top finisher from the South/Southeast Region, running with some of the top runners from across the country.

CROSS COUNTRY
Kaylee Kubisiak, Bridgewater, Jr.
Kubisiak, a junior from Abbottstown, Pa., finished fifth overall out for 321 total runners at the NCAA Division III Preview Meet in Ohio, finishing the six-kilometer course with a time of 21:15.79. She was the top finisher from the ODAC and the South/Southeast Region as she was within three-seconds of second place. Her efforts helped Bridgewater to seventh place of 27 teams.
