Lynchburg Joins Washington and Lee Atop Commissioner's Cup Standings

FOREST, Va. --- The race to lift the 2015-16 ODAC Commissioner's Cups has tightened following the winter campaign, with a second school moving into the top spot for the annual awards presented by Virginia Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance. Washington and Lee University remains in command of the Dan Wooldridge Overall Champions Cup and Women's Commissioner's Cup, but a strong winter saw Lynchburg College take hold of the top rung in the Men's Commissioner's Cup ladder.

ODAC Commissioner's Cup Winter Results

Virginia Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance is the proud sponsor for the Dan Wooldridge Overall Champions Cup and the ODAC Men and Women's Commissioner's Cups. Farm Bureau and the ODAC continue their partnership in focusing on the strength of the conference's student-athletes and maintaining the NCAA Division III philosophy of the complete student-athlete experience. Aside from supporting the ODAC Commissioners' Cups, Farm Bureau is the sponsor of the ODAC's sport-by-sport scholar-athlete awards.

As determined by the ODAC Board of Directors, points for the ODAC Commissioner's Cups are based on regular-season standings in team sports and championship team finishes in individual/meet sports. Each institution has a total number of possible points it can collect based on its sport sponsorship. The total number of points earned is then divided by the total number of possible points to determine the rating for each institution.

The Generals maintain a solid lead in the Dan Wooldridge Overall Champions Cup and Women's Commissioner's Cup standings. W&L has secured 113.5 of a possible 135.0 total points towards a 0.841 rating in the overall cup stanidngs. Lynchburg sits second at 0.743 (84.0-of-113.0), while Roanoke College (71.0-of-107.0), Bridgewater College (83.5-of-131.0), Randolph-Macon College (54.5-of-90.0), and Virginia Wesleyan College (63.5-of-107.0) remain tight for the next several slots with respective ratings of 0.664, 0.637, 0.606, and 0.593.

Washington and Lee's lofty rating in the women's cup standings persists as it dropped just 0.020 points from the fall to a 0.873 rating (69.0-of-79.0). The Generals earned a full 10 points in winning the ODAC swimming crown and added a second place showing in indoor track, third place in riding, and a tie for third in the basketball standings. Lynchburg remains in second, using a first-place finish in hoops to help secure a 0.703 mark (48.5-of-69.0). Bridgewater is the new third-place squad at 0.652 (51.5-of-79.0), with R-MC (0.639), RC (0.611), Shenandoah University (0.595), VWC (0.587), and Emory & Henry College (0.565) all within a tenth of a rating point.

Lyncburg used strong efforts in basketball and indoor track, tying for first in the former, to post a 0.807 rating (35.5-of-44.0) to lead the men's cup standings. Washington and Lee, which boasted a perfect 1.000 rating after the fall campaign, is just 0.012 rating points shy of the Hornets at 0.795 (44.5-of-56.0) thanks to a title in swimming and second place in indoor track. Roanoke also remains close at-hand with a 0.739 mark (32.5-of-44.0), with Bridgewater (0.615) and Virginia Wesleyan (0.602) both sitting over 0.600.
