ODAC Players of the Week

Thru Week Prior to: January 18, 2016

MEN'S INDOOR TRACK - FIELD
Davis Turner, Washington and Lee, Jr., Jumps
Turner, a junior from East Point, Ga., has put together the top two performances in the men's high jump in the early portions of the indoor season. This past weekend at the Marietta Open, Turner cleared 1.92 meters to finish second overall. That height is second only in the ODAC ranks to his previous jump to close 2015 at 1.94 meters. Turner also competed in three track events at Marietta, running in 55-meter (30th - 7.03) and 200-meter (34th - 25.26) dashes. He helped W&L to sixth in the 4x400-meter relay (3:42.23).

MEN'S INDOOR TRACK - TRACK
Cameron Thompson, Roanoke, Jr., Sprints
Thompson, a junior from McLean, Va., put together a strong showing at the Marietta Open to kickoff the 2016 season. Thompson set a new school-record in winning the 200-meter dash in 0:22.61. That time also ranks seventh in NCAA Division III and is the top time in the ODAC so far this season. Thompson addeda fifth place showing in the 400-meter dash in 0:54.03.

WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - FIELD
Dana Lee, Washington and Lee, Jr., Jumps/Sprints
Lee, a junior from Nashville, Tenn., picked up in 2016 right where she left off in 2015 with her second weekly honor. Lee won the long jump with an ODAC season-best 5.33-meter leap. That also ranks as the 14th-longest jump in NCAA Division III so far this season. She added a third-place finish in the triple jump at 10.52 meters, an event in which she already owns the ODAC's best mark (11.00m). Lee added a second place showing in the 400-meter dash (1:00.82) and third place finish in the 200-meter dash (0:26.91) to her meet workload. Those times rank second and third in the ODAC, respectively.

WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - TRACK
Amber Celen, Bridgewater, So., Sprints/Hurdles
Celen, a sophomore from Townsend, Del., stamped her name atop two events and sits third in one other individual discipline after competing at both the Father Diamond Invitational and CNU Triangular over the past two weeks. She was the top NCAA Division III finisher in the 200-meter dash at the Father Diamond, posting an ODAC top-time of 0:26.20 to place 15th overall. She was also 15th in the 60-meter dash in 0:07.93, which also sits atop the conference lists. At CNU, Celen finished second in the 60-meter hurdles in 0:10.07, which ranks third in the ODAC. She also helped BC win the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:20.73.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Will Freeman, Guilford, Sr., Forward
Freeman, a senior from Rockingham, N.C., helped the Quakers to a pair of ODAC wins last week, including a final-second triumph over Emory & Henry. It was Freeman who provided the winning bucket in that road contest, scoring with 0:03 to play to put the Quakers ahead by the final score of 61-60. He ad 15 points for the game, shooting 6-of-11 overall. He added six rebounds and a blocked shot. Freeman followed that with an 18-point effort in an 81-69 triumph over Shenandoah. He was 8-of-12 from the field and added seven rebounds, including four via the offensive glass. He chipped in an assist and a steal. For the season, Freeman is averaging 13.1 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. He is second in offensive rebounds (40) and sixth in both field goals made (75) and blocked shots (15).

MEN'S SWIMMING
Tommy Thetford, Washington and Lee, So., Freestyle
Thetford, a sophomore from Birmingham, Ala., picks up his second weekly honor of the season after leading Washington and Lee to a dual meet victory over Catholic University. Thetford put his name above the rest in the 50-yard freestyle season listing, posting an ODAC top time of 0:20.82 to win the event. He also stopped the watches first in the 100-yard freestyle in 0:47.93. Thetford swam legs in the winning 200-yard medley and 200-yard free relays, which chimed in with times of 1:37.29 and 1:28.02, respectively.

WOMEN'S SWIMMING
Emily Rollo, Washington and Lee, Jr., Backstroke
Rollo, a junior from Haddenfield, N.J., collects her second weekly award after helping to lead the Generals to a dual meet victory over Catholic University. The reigning ODAC Swimmer of the Year won 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke events, both of which she previously owns the conference's best times for the season. She posted a winning time of 0:59.64 in the 100-yard back and touched the wall first in the 200-yard back in 2:09.72. Rollo also helped Washington and Lee to wins in the 200-yard medley and freestyle relays. Those squads posted times of 1:51.44 and 1:42.06, respectively.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Cassidy Burkholder, Bridgewater, Sr., Guard
Burkholder, a senior from Bridgewater, Va., helped the Eagles to a 1-1 week as she averaged a double-double for the second straight week and shot 55.6-percent from the field. She opened with 25 points on 9-of-15 shooting to go with 10 rebounds in Bridgewater's 84-78 triumph at Virginia Wesleyan. she added five assists and a pair of steals to her stat line. Burkholder followed with 12 points and 11 rebounds in the Eagles 62-49 setback at Lynchburg. She chipped in an assist, a steal and a blocked shot. Her two double-doubles on the week give her three for the season. Burkholder is currently ranked in the top-10 in the ODAC eight major categories -- scoring (14.8 ppg), rebounding (7.7 rpg), steals (37), assists (57), assist-to-turnover ratio (2.7), free throws made (39), field goals made (80) and field goal percentage (48.8%).
