ODAC Players of the Week

Thru Week Prior to: February 1, 2016

INDOOR TRACK
Jeremy Heizer, Eastern Mennonite, Sr., Throws
Heizer, a senior from Staunton, Va., put together a strong performance at the Camel City Invitational at JDL Fast Track. He established the ODAC's top mark in the weight throw with a toss of 14.87 meters to place 10th overall in the event. It also improved upon his second all-time positioning at Eastern Mennonite. Heizer also finished 12th in the shot put with a heave of 14.18 meters, second in the ODAC only to his previous season-best mark (14.89m).

INDOOR TRACK
Anthony Quinn, Randolph, Jr., Hurdles
Quinn, a junior from Pomona, Calif., posted a pair of school record-setting individual performances at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational hosted by Liberty University. Quinn was the top NCAA Division III finisher in the 60-meter hurdles, posting a new ODAC season-best time of 0:08.52. That mark is just 0.19-seconds shy of the ODAC record, while also ranking 47th in the country. Quinn then placed third overall and tops among D-III athletes in the 200-meter dash in 0:23.03. That time sits third on the conference season chart.

INDOOR TRACK
Kim Alfaro, Lynchburg, Sr., Throws
Alfaro, a senior from Toms River, N.J., competed for the first time in 2016 and promptly took over the top spot in the ODAC in the weight throw. Her heave of 16.16 meters at the Darius Dixon Memorial not only topped the Division II, III and unattached ranks at the Liberty University-hosted meet, but came up just 0.02 meters short of tying her own ODAC record set last season. That throw is also 1.58 meters better than the next best toss in the conference this year.

INDOOR TRACK
Hannah Chappell-Dick, Eastern Mennonite, Sr., Mid-Distance
Chappell-Dick, a senior from Bluffton, Ohio, posted a pair of nationally 10th-ranked times this weekend at the Camel City Invitational hosted at JDL Fast Track. Chappell-Dick was fifth overall and sits fourth in NCAA Division III in the mile run after stopping the watches with an ODAC season-best time of 5:02.05. Chappell-Dick now sits 10th nationally in the 800-meter run after posting a seventh-place time of 2:16.02 in the multi-divisional meet. That time also tops the conference charts. She also competed on the Royals' distance medley relay team, helping EMU to a 12th place time of 13:42.21.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Daniel Noe, Randolph-Macon, So., Forward
Noe, a sophomore from Fairfax, Va., helped lead the Yellow Jackets to a pair of ODAC victories last week. Noe picked the right game to collect his first double-double of the season as he poured in 19 points with 12 rebounds in Randolph-Macon's 88-59 win over Virginia Wesleyan. He was 8-of-14 from the field, helping R-MC to a .589 (33-of-56) shooting night. He added one assist and a blocked shot. Noe was back at it at Emory & Henry, posting 14 points and seven rebounds in helping R-MC topple the Wasps, 84-67. He added three assists and a blocked shot while going 6-for-11 from the field. For the season, Noe is averaging 8.9 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. He has scored in double figures five times, all in the last five contests, leading R-MC to a 4-1 showing in those games.

SWIMMING
Tommy Thetford, Washington and Lee, So., Freestyle
Thetford, a sophomore from Birmingham, Ala., led the Generals to a dual meet win over Virginia Military Academy last week, setting a pair of NCAA B-cut qualification times in the process. Thetford improved upon his already ODAC best times in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events, winning both along the way. In the 100-free, he stopped the watches in 0:45.49. He posted a time of 0:20.10 in the 50-free, which also ties his own ODAC record set during participation at the 2015 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships. Thetford helped Washington and Lee to wins in the 200-yard medley and freestyle relays, posting times of 1:35.34 and 1:26.23, respectively.

SWIMMING
Mackenzie Lingle, Emory & Henry, So., Multi
Lingle, a sophomore from Roanoke, Va., won three times individually in Emory & Henry's quad-meet victories over Greensboro (217-32), Ferrum (222-28) and Randolph-Macon (186-76). Lingle stopped the watches first in the 100-yard freestyle in 0:54.84 and the 100-yard butterfly in 1:00.75, with both times ranking inside of the ODAC's top five marks. She also won the 200-yard individual medley by 6.72-seconds in 2:18.62, her best time in the event of the season. Lingle helped her teammates win the 200-yard medley relay in 1:54.22.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Katie Anderson, Randolph-Macon, Sr., Forward
Anderson, a senior from Beaverdam, Va., picks up her second weekly honor of the season after posting a pair of double-doubles that included a record-breaking performance. The record came in the Yellow Jackets second game of the week, an 80-54 triumph over Hollins. In addition to scoring 19 points on 8-of-11 from the field, Anderson set a new conference standard with 28 rebounds, breaking the former record set by Randolph-Macon Woman's College's Jennifer Prewitt in 2004. It stands as the fourth-most rebounds in a single game in NCAA Division III this season. She added four assists, two steals and a blocked shot to her stat line against Hollins. Earlier in the week, Anderson scored 15 points to go with 10 rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocked shots in a setback at Randolph College. For the seaosn, Anderson leads the ODAC in rebounding average (12.9), total rebounds (219) and double-doubles (12). She's second in the ODAC in scoring (19.4 ppg) and offensive rebounds (60), and third in total points (329).
