ODAC Players of the Week

FOOTBALL
JJ Hill, Randolph-Macon, Fr., Defensive Back
Hill, a freshman from Roanoke, Va., helped spearhead the Yellow Jacket's "bend-but-snap-back" defensive performance in Randolph-Macon's 14-9 victory over Hampden-Sydney in the 120th edition of "The Game." R-MC surrendered 339 yards of offense, but also forced four turnovers on two interceptions and a pair of fumbles. It was Hill that came up with both of those interceptions, with each directly scoring or preventing points. He picked off his first pass in the opening frame, returning it 31-yards for a touchdown and a 14-0 lead. His second INT came in the third quarter when he stopped a Tigers' scoring drive in the end zone. Hill broke up two other passes in the game and registered a pair of tackles, including a quarterback sack. The interceptions brought his season total to three, all coming in the last two weeks.

FOOTBALL
Matt Pawlowski, Guilford, Sr., Quarterback
Pawlowski, a senior from Greensboro, N.C., put together his second 400-yard passing game of the season in the Quakers 41-30 win over Emory & Henry. Pawlowski completed a season-best 76.6-percent (36-of-47) of his passes for 411 yards and four touchdowns without an interception. He was especially potent in the second half, leading Guilford back from a 23-13 deficit and directing the offense to scores on four straight possessions. He was 17-of-20 for 278 yards and three touchdowns in the final two frames. His touchdown plays went for 20, 27, 39 and 18 yards. He has now thrown for an ODAC-best 39 touchdowns this season, three off the conference record (J.D. Ricca, H-SC, 2005). He is also now seventh in NCAA Division III history with 116 touchdown passes, eight short of the ODAC record (Josh Vogelbach, GC, 2005-08). Pawlowski currently leads the ODAC in passing yards (3,333) and yards per game (333.3) in addition to touchdown passes.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
John Fitchett, Roanoke, Jr., Guard
Fitchett, a junior from Williamsburg, Va., helped the Maroons open the season with a 1-1 showing at the Penn State-Harrisburg Tip-Off. Fitchett averaged 24.0 points over the two games, shooting 71.4-percent from the field in splitting contests against Lebanon Valley College and Rutgers-Camden. In a tight 101-98 setback to LVC, Fitchett poured in a career-best 27 points on a 12-of-16 shooting from the field, which included a 3-of-3 showing from beyond the arc. He added five rebounds, an assist and a steal. Fitchett followed with 21 points in the Maroons 116-82 triumph over Rutgers-Camden. He was 8-of-12 overall and 1-of-1 from deep, adding in a 4-for-5 showing from the stripe. He chipped in three steals to go with two boards and a pair of assists.

SWIMMING
Tommy Thetford, Washington and Lee, So., Freestyle
Thetford, a sophomore from Birmingham, Ala., posted a pair of individual event wins and helped the Generals to a first and second place showing in two relays as Washington and Lee finished second of three teams at the Carnegie Mellon Tri-Meet. Thetford won the 50-yard freestyle in 0:21.15, second in the ODAC this season to his previous time of 0:20.95. He went on to win the 100-yard free in 0:46.97, again second only to his previous best time of thes season. Thetford then swam legs of W&L's 200-yard free and 200-yard medley relay teams, posting a winning time of 1:27.62 and second place mark of 1:37.53, respectively.

SWIMMING
Elisabeth Holmes, Washington and Lee, Jr., Freestyle
Holmes, a junior from Raleigh, N.C., put together a strong four-event performance to help the Generals to second place at the Carnegie Mellon Tri-Meet. Holmes won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:56.90, just 0.19-seconds shy of her previous ODAC-best time this season. She also stopped the watches first in the 500-yard free in 5:13.43, marking the fastest time in the conference this season. Her third place time of 0:54.25 in the 100-yard free was again just short of her own league-best showing. Holmes also swam a leg of the 200-yard free relay, helping W&L to second with a time of 1:40.99.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Katie Anderson, Randolph-Macon, Sr., Forward
Anderson, a senior from Beaverdam, Va., was named the Most Outstanding Player at the R-MC Tip-Off Classic after posting a pair of doubles in the Yellow Jackets 2-0 showing. In a 79-75 triumph over Catholic, Anderson went for 26 points and 12 rebounds. She followed up an 8-for-19 field goal day with a 10-of-12 showing from the stripe. She added a pair of assists, five steals and two blockd shots. The reigning ODAC rebounding champion grabbed 17 boards in a 72-67 win over Mt. St. Vincent. She added 17 points with two assists and two steals. Anderson has registered double figures in rebounds in five straight games dating back to last season.
