MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK
ERIC JOHNSON, ROANOKE COLLEGE
Johnson, senior from Topsham, Maine, was the
individual champion of the 2006 Maroon Invitational in Salem, Va.
He beat the 79 other finishers with a time off 26:40. This was his
second straight victory after winning the W&L Invitational
earlier in the season. He has won two of the last three Maroon
Invitationals.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK
MEG HARTNETT, ROANOKE COLLEGE
Harnett finished second at the Maroon Invitational on
Saturday, finishing ahead of all other ODAC runners. She crossed
the finish line with a time of 20:16. Her closest conference
competitor stopped the watches nearly six seconds behind her
pace.

FIELD HOCKEY PLAYER OF THE WEEK
CHRISSY CLANCY, VIRGINIA WESLEYAN
Clancy, a senior from Oak Hill, Va., had a role in
all the scoring in a 3-0 week for VWC, as the Marlins defeated
Wilson College 1-0, won 3-2 in overtime at Randolph-Macon College,
and posted a 12-0 win over Randolph-Macon Woman's College on
Saturday. She recorded four goals and four assists for the
Marlins including the assist on the goal that defeated Wilson, the
game-winning goal at R-MC, and a school record-setting nine points
with three goals and three assists vs. R-MWC. She is the only
player in VWC field hockey history to record three or more goals in
four games. She now leads VWC in scoring with five goals and
seven assists.

GOLFER OF THE WEEK
JOSEPH POPLIN, GUILFORD
Poplin, a senior from Eden, N.C., paced Guilford at the Sea
Trail Intercollegiate with a seventh-place finish. He shot a
three-under-par 141 (70-71) to help the Quakers finish
10th in the 20-team field. Sea Trail marked the
first outing of the season for Guilford, a very tough task
considering the Quakers were the only NCAA Division III team in the
field (all other schools were NCAA Div. I).

TED SHEEDY, WASHINGTON & LEE
Sheedy, a junior from Pittsburgh, Pa., posted two
shutouts to lead the Generals to a 2-0 week. He had four
saves in a 2-0 victory over Bridgewater and five more in a 4-0
triumph over Hampden-Sydney. W&L's starting net-minder
has allowed one goal all season for a 0.20 goals against
average. Sheedy has not allowed a goal in 288:09 straight
minutes.

KATIE LAMM, EASTERN MENNONITE
Lamm, a sophomore from Newmanstown, Pa., scored for
the sixth straight contest with all three tallies to defeat
regionally ninth-ranked Guilford 3-2. Included in that strong trend
of goal scoring were a pair of games in which she netted two or
more goals. EMU's top striker currently leads the squad in
goals scored with nine.

VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
MARSHA HERMES, BRIDGEWATER
Hermes, a junior from Warrenton, Va., was named the
Most Outstanding Player after leading the Eagles to a 4-0 record
and the championship at the BC Invitational. For the four matches
in the tournament, Hermes averaged 4.64 kills per game and finished
with a .452 hitting percentage. She hit a combined .451 during the
Eagles 4-1 full week with 79 total kills, 20 digs, and 10 blocks in
18 combined games played. She hit better than .350 in all
four matches with stunning high of .525 on 21 kills (three errors)
in 34 attempts.
