FIELD HOCKEY PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Allie Weir, Lynchburg College
Weir, a freshman from Richmond, Va., led Lynchburg to a 3-0 week with five goals and an assist.  She scored the game-winner in overtime to hand Washington & Lee its first conference loss of the season.  The victory secured the regular season title and top seed in the ODAC postseason tournament.  She added two more goals apiece in a 4-1 win over NCAA Division II Catawba and in a 9-0 triumph over Sweet Briar to move on in the conference playoffs.  Weir has 26 goals and seven assists on the season, leading the ODAC in both points (59) and goals scored. 

GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Bob Boykin, Hampden-Sydney College
Boykin, a junior from Virginia Beach, Va., helped the Tigers to a seventh place showing in their final tournament of the fall, the Poplar Hill Intercollegiate tournament.  Boykin finished fifth in the overall individual field making him the top ODAC golfer at the tournament.  He shot a 12-over par 228, 13 shots behind the tournament winner.  Boykin came out strong on the first, leading the field by two strokes after firing a one-over par 73.  On fell back with an 80 during the second round, but recovered nicely in the final round with a 75.  Boykin finished the fall as the leading Tiger golfer, averaging 74.9 per round.

MEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Modou Jobarteh, Lynchburg College
Jobarteh, a junior from Silver Spring, Md., shook up the ODAC men's soccer postseason tournament rankings by helping the Hornets to a victory over Washington & Lee.  His two second half goals proved the difference in the 2-0 triumph and moved Lynchburg into the #2 spot in the conference playoffs. 

WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Anne Van Devender, Washington & Lee University
Van Devender, a sophomore from Jackson, Mississippi, picks up her second ODAC Player of the Week award after leading the Generals in a pair of conference victories over the past week.  She notched both goals in a 2-0 victory over Emory and Henry in W&L's final game of the regular season to tie the W&L record for most points in a season with 51 on 20 goals and 11 assists (ties Karin Treese '97).  She followed that up with a goal and an assist in the Generals' 2-0 victory over Eastern Mennonite in the opening round of the ODAC postseason tournament. 

SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Lindsey Strachan, Washington & Lee University
Strachan, a sophomore from Midlothian, Va., picked up right where she left off her Rookie of the Year inaugural season with a pair of impressive showings to open the 2006 season.  Against Centre, she notched a first place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.33) and a second place time in the 200-yard freestyle (2:04.97).  She was also a member of the second place 400-yard medley relay team (4:17.55).  Against Transylvania, Strachan won both the 100 (1:03.09) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:13.88) events, and also helped the Generals to victories in the 200-yard medley (1:57.55) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:43.25) relays. 

VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Carrington Cardwell, Lynchburg College
Cardwell, a junior from Gladys, Va., led Lynchburg to a 4-0 week, extending the Hornets' winning streak to eight matches entering the ODAC postseason tournament.  She posted 46 kills in 16 games, hitting on a .356 clip.  She had 13 kills in a three-set win over Sweet Briar on Tuesday, 14 kills at Ferrum on Thursday, and 12 more against Mountain State on Saturday.  Cardwell also added 15 blocks and 15 digs on the week.
