BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Andrew Pittman, Eastern Mennonite
University
Pittman, a sophomore from Culpepper, Va., hit a
robust .917 over three games for the Royals, going 11-for-12
against conference opponents including a team high 14 total
bases. Pittman was 1-for-2 with a double against
Randolph-Macon, but followed that up with a 10-for-10 showing in a
split with Emory & Henry. He went 5-for-5 in both
contests, collecting a triple and two RBI in the second
affair. The Royals' leftfielder is now hitting .330 on the
season with 12 runs batted in.
BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Dave Whigham, Virginia Wesleyan College
Whigham, a senior from Ocean City, Md., led VWC to an
8-1 victory over Bridgewater by tossing a complete game, allowing
only two hits, one walk, one earned run and striking out a
career-high 11 batters. Whigham leads the VWC pitching staff
with 49 strikeouts in 40.2 innings of work. He owns a 1.33
earned run average and a 3-2 overall record.

GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Nathaniel James, Washington & Lee
University
James, a junior from Keller, Texas, carded an
eight-under-par score of 206 (65-69-72) to finish as the individual
medalist at the Marine Corps Federal Credit Union Intercollegiate
held in Camp Lejeune, N.C., over the weekend. James bested
159 other players and won the tournament in a two-hole
playoff. As a team, the Generals finished 12th out of 32
teams with a score of 879 (276-296-305). For the season,
James has won three tournaments and averages 73.5 strokes per
round.

| Joseph Poplin, Guilford | Finished third at Camp Lejeune in record setting fashion... shot a 207 three round total to tie the GC school 54-hole mark... his first and second round combined total of 133 set a new Quaker 36 record... his round of 62 on day two also set a new GC mark. |
| Ralston King, Randolph-Macon | Shot 65-74 in the first two rounds at Camp Lejeune... his 65 marks an RMC school record. |
MEN'S LACROSSE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Billy Cameron, Roanoke College
Cameron, a junior from Salem, Va., went 30-for-34 on
face-offs during Roanoke's 2-0 week which included a 17-16 overtime
win over #4 Lynchburg. In that Victory, Cameron went
18-for-21 on face-offs, winning three in the final minute of play
which allowed the maroons to comback from a four-goal
deficit. He then won the face-off to open overtime, ran the
ball down the field, and scored the game-winning goal just 12
seconds into the extra frame. He finished the game with a
goal and an assist. In the team's win over Colby, Cameron was
12-for-13 on face-offs and also had a goal and an assist. He
also finished the week with a team high 19 groundballs.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Traci Phipps, Randolph-Macon College
Phipps, a senior from Annapolis, Md., scored seven
goals and added six assists in a 2-1 week for the Yellow
Jackets. In a 12-10 come-from-behind win over Virginia
Wesleyan, Phipps recorded a pair of goals and dished out five
assists. In a loss to Guilford, Phipps scored four times and
chipped in a helper. At Greensboro on Sunday, Phipps notched
her remaining goal in a 10-7 victory.

SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Krystal Ellis, Sweet Briar College
Ellis, a junior from Rustburg, Va., led the Vixens in
hitting with a .556 average over six games last week. In
Sweet Briar's 2-1 win over RMWC, she knocked in one run and scored
the other. Against Guilford, Ellis game the Vixens singled
and scored the first of two insurance runs in the seventh inning to
secure a win for SBC. Her run was pivotal as GC pushed a run
across in the home half of the frame. For the week, she hit
10-for-18 with three doubles, a triple, five runs scored and three
RBI.
SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Natasha Viafora, Eastern Mennonite
University
Viafora, a junior from Stanley, Va., was dominant and
almost perfect against Mary Washington as the right-hander didn't
allow a baserunner until the Eagles got a clean double off the wall
with two outs in the sixth inning. She retired the next
batter to seal the 12-0 shortened complete game victory. For
the week, she struck out 31 batters in 18 innings in the circle,
allowing only six hits and walking one without surrendering a
run. She went the distance in all three of her contests, each
resulting in victory to improve her season record to 8-3.

MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jeff Zenisek, Virginia Wesleyan College
Zenisek, a senior from Jacksonville, Fla., led VWC to
a 3-0 week with a 9-0 win at NC Wesleyan, a 5-4 triumph at
Bridgewater, and a 9-0 victory at Eastern Mennonite. Jeff has
won his last four consecutive singles matches to improve to 10-5
overall, 8-2 in dual matches and 6-1 in the ODAC, all at the #2
spot. He is also part of a 14-3 #1 doubles tandem with Eric
Caudill, a duo that has won six consecutive matches and is now 5-0
in the ODAC.

WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Imee Bautista, Virginia Wesleyan College
Bautista, a freshman from Virginia Beach, Va., led
VWC to a 2-0 week with a 7-2 win at NC Wesleyan and an 8-1 victory
at Bridgewater. She improved her overall singles record to
21-4 (including tournaments), becoming the first woman in VWC
history to record 20 wins in a single season. She
accomplished the same feat in doubles, improving to 21-2 with
partner Megan Crook to become the first VWC doubles tandem with 20
wins. Imee is now 12-1 in dual matches at the #1 position in
singles and 12-1 in dual matches in doubles.

MEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Nathan Rittenhouse, Bridgewater College
Rittenhouse, a sophomore from Green Bank, W.Va.,
placed second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Liberty ASICS
Collegiate Invitational. Rittenhouse finished with a time of
9:42.58 to set a new Bridgewater record in the event. He
eclipsed the previous mark by almost 46 seconds.

WOMEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD ATHLETE OF THE
WEEK
Meredith Withers, Roanoke College
Withers, a junior from Swoope, Va., won the
heptathlon at the Division I Liberty University ASICS Invitational
on Saturday. She finished with 4,389 points. She won
the 100-meter hurdles in the event, and placed third in the high
jump, and fourth in both the shot put and 200-meter dash in
Friday's first day of action. On Saturday, she was fourth in
the long jump, second in the javelin, and second in the 800-meter
run.
