VIERA, Fla. --- It took just one appearance for Phil Morse '16 to earn the first promotion of his professional baseball career with the Washington Nationals organization.
Barely 24 hours after striking out all five batters he faced versus the Gulf Coast League Astros on Saturday, Morse earned a promotion to the Auburn (N.Y.) Doubledays of the Class A NY-Penn League Sunday afternoon.
The Doubledays are the short-season Class A affiliate of the Nationals and are located in the Finger Lakes region of New York.
Auburn is currently tied for first place in the Pinckney Division of the NY-Penn with a 7-3 record. The Doubledays, winners of two straight, complete a three-game homestand versus Williamsport (Pa.) tonight at 7:05.
