YORK, Pa. --- No. 10/10 Shenandoah University baseball tied a program-record for wins in a season with a 4-1 elimination round victory over Lesley (Mass.) Saturday afternoon at the York Regional.

Shenandoah (38-9) scored two runs in the first to give freshman Gerard DePhillips all of the support he would need. DePhillips (7-2) threw his fourth complete game of the season, striking out six, and benefitting from double play balls in the first, second and fifth innings.

Sophomore Luke Nussman had the game-winning RBI as he brought home Nick Goode with a single to right center.

Nussman's RBI was part of a two-run first for the Hornets. Abel Arocho, who extended his hitting streak to 17 games, had a one-out ingle to right and moved to second on Goode's infield single.

Senior Jake Loew then recorded his 57th RBI of the season by lacing a single to right to score Arocho from second.

In the third, Tristan Baker led off with an infield single before Goode drove him home with a sacrifice fly to center. Baker moved into scoring position on a wild pitch and to third on an Arocho groundout.

Baker scored the Hornets fourth and final run in the fifth by drawing a one out walk and advancing all the way to third on a failed pick-off attempt. On the very next pitch, Arocho singled to left to bring in Baker with the unearned run.

DePhillips, who threw 110 pitches, faced the minimum in the first, second, fourth and sixth innings while striking out the side in the sixth.

"We had to have an outstanding pitching performance today and we got it," head coach Kevin Anderson said. "Gerard was outstanding – he threw three pitches for strikes and his breaking ball improved as the game went on."

Baker, Arocho and Loew all had two hits.

SU now plays Alvernia tonight at 7:45 in another elimination round contest.
