YORK, Pa. - The Virginia Wesleyan University baseball team fell, 4-1, to Misericordia University Thursday afternoon in the team's first game of the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional. With the loss, the squad moves to 28-15 on the season and will square off against the loser of the Castleton and Rowan on at 10 a.m. Friday.

The Cougars were the first to get on the board, putting up single runs in the second, third and fourth. They'd tack on one more in the eighth before the Marlins broke their standstill. In the ninth, Austin Obenour pinch hit for VWU, leading off with a single to left field. Exchanging places with pinch runner Josh Hinson, he was able to make it to second on a Corey King Single. Brandon Kussmaul and Jacob Pilarski would then hit back-to-back groundouts to plate Hinson.

Chance Pauley was saddled with the loss, despite allowing only three earned through 7.2 innings on the mound. He would be relieved by Nick Bay who kept the Cougars hitless through the final 1.1.
