Shenandoah Wins Again, Heads to Regional Finals in NCAA Baseball Championship

WINCHESTER, Va. --- No. 3/3 Shenandoah University will play for the Winchester Regional title after eliminating TCNJ, 8-1, Saturday night in the loser's bracket final.
 
Shenandoah (40-8) reaches the 40-win mark for just the second time in program history with its win over the Lions (24-24).

The victory puts SU into a Sunday final versus Christopher Newport University. The Captains (32-9) advanced to Sunday's final by downing TCNJ, 18-3, in Saturday's middle contest.
 
With the score tied at 1-1 heading into the sixth, Shenandoah scored five runs on five hits, a walk, and two hit batsmen as 11 men came to the plate in the frame.
 
Ryan Clawson had an RBI double, with Kooper AndersonFrankie Ritter, and Colby Martin delivering run-scoring singles. Pearce Bucher, who led off the inning with a single to left center, drove in the final run by drawing a bases-loaded walk.
 
In the ninth, Kyle Lisa put a capper on the evening with a towering two-run home run to left. His fourth round-tripper of the year traveled 350 feet and had an exit velocity of 93 mph.
 
Michael Prosperi (2-0) pitched the first five innings and scattered seven hits and two walks, but only allowed one run. Parker Farrington pitched the final four innings to earn his third save of the season. He struck out six and retired eight of the final 10 hitters he faced.
 
John DiCostanzo (2-4) took the loss after giving up six runs on seven hits and three walks against four strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings. Justin Marcario had three of the Lions nine hits.
 
Martin was 3 for 5 for the victors with Clawson and Lisa both adding two hits in four at-bats. Anderson was 2 for 5.

Shenandoah takes on Christopher Newport at 1 p.m. Sunday in game six of the Winchester Regional. SU needs two victories Sunday over the Captains to secure the regional title.
