  • ODAC Fall Sportsmanship Teams Announced
    January 08, 2015
    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference is pleased to announce the 2014-15 ODAC Sportsmanship Teams in each of the fall sports sponsored by the conference. This marks the sixth year the league has recognized these fine student-athletes for their excellence in sportsmanship. Seventy-five athletes were honored this season.
  • Four Earn All-American Honors to Lead Football Awards

    Four athletes from ODAC schools earned All-American recognition to lead the conference's contingent of award winners. Guilford defensive back Satiir Stevenson was tabbed to the first team by D3fooball.com and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), while teammate and fellow defensive back JerMario Gooch picked up a second team spot from D3football.com. Hampden-Sydney receiver Holton Walker also received second team recognition, while Bridgewater return-man Jordan Hartman was selected to the third team.
  • Hampden-Sydney's Nash Nance Wins Lanier Award

    Senior quarterback Nash Nance (Calhoun, GA/Tennessee) was named the winner of the Willie Lanier Award on Wednesday night, given to the top player in Division II, III and NAIA in the state by the Touchdown Club of Richmond. Nance was a finalist with Christopher Newport quarterback Marcus Morrast and Virginia State linebacker Andre Rawls.
  • Five Players Honored by Touchdown Club of Richmond

    Five student-athletes from ODAC member schools earned recognition from the Touchdown Club of Richmond on Thursday. Darrick Gore from Bridgewater was named the Defensive Back of the Year, while his Eagles teammate Jordan Hartman received Specialist of the Year honors. Josh Doggett from Hampden-Sydney was tabbed the Linebacker of the Year, while the Tigers' Holton Walker picked up co-Wide Receiver of the Year laurels. Randolph-Macon's Tom Solak was named the Defensive Lineman of the Year.
  • E&H's Kirby Tabbed Capital One Academic All-American
    December 03, 2014
    Emory & Henry College wide receiver Lucas Kirby was named a Capital One Academic All-American, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He is one of 25 honorees on the first team. Kirby is the lone football representative from the ODAC and the third conference student-athlete to earn such an honor this fall.
  • Guilford's Pawlowski, Stevenson Lead ODAC Football Awards

    Guilford quarterback Matt Pawlowski and Quakers defensive back Satiir Stevenson highlight the All-ODAC Football Awards, as the duo were named the J. Stokeley Fulton Offensive and Lou Wacker Defensive Players of the Year. Emory & Henry's Curt Newsome was tabbed the ODAC Coach of the Year, while Wasps’ signal-caller Kevin Saxton earned ODAC Rookie of the Year accolades. Bridgewater defensive back Lucas Elliott earned ODAC/Va. Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Scholar-Athlete honors.
  • Guilford's Pawlowski Named Finalist for Gagliardi Trophy

    Guilford College junior Matt Pawlowski has been selected as one of 10 semifinalists for the 2014 Gagliardi Trophy, awarded to NCAA Division III's most outstanding football player. The J-Club of Saint John's University of Minnesota, which presents the annual prize along with Jostens, announced the semifinalists Monday.
  • Hampden-Sydney Falls to Wesley in NCAA Football First Round
    November 22, 2014
    Hampden-Sydney College fell victim to turnovers and a stout Wesley College defense as the Tigers lost to the Wolverines, 52-7, in the first round of the NCAA Division III Football Tournament. H-SC caps its season with a 7-4 overall record, while Wesley, now 10-1, moves on to face MIT in the second round. The Engineers (10-0) defeated Husson University, 27-20.
  • Washington and Lee Wins ODAC Football Play of the Week Award

    It started with Washington and Lee University, and it ends with Washington and Lee. For the second time this season, the Generals won the ODAC Football Play of the Week fan poll, with this week's recognition joining the win in the season's first contest. First-year running back Jimmy Dugan (pictured) brought the fans to their feet as he capped the best rushing day in his collegiate career with a big time run.

    The ODAC regular season came to a close with plenty of fireworks, leaving a four-way tie atop the ODAC standings. Hampden-Sydney, despite a loss to Randolph-Macon in the 120th edition of "The Game" on Saturday, earned its second straight and ninth overall conference title after coming out ahead in a pair of head-to-head tiebreakers. H-SC will meet Wesley in the NCAA Tournament. Guilford quarterback Matt Pawlowski (pictured) and Washington and Lee defensive back Michael Shields are the players of the week.
  • Hampden-Sydney Earns ODAC Title and NCAA Tournament Bid

    Hampden-Sydney College earned its second straight and ninth overall ODAC title following Saturday's slate of games. The Tigers lost their final contest to Randolph-Macon College, but came out ahead in the resulting four-way tie to punch its ticket to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in as many seasons. Selections for the 32-team field will be announced on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. on www.ncaa.com
  • Emory & Henry Wins ODAC Football Play of the Week Award

    The penultimate week of the season brought us a big play from each school, and for the second time it was Emory & Henry College that came out on top. The Wasps previously won in week two following a big win over Maryville College. Defensive back Roth Healey (pictured) provided the action this week just like he did in early September.

    Just one week remains in the NCAA Division III football regular season and the ODAC championship still has not yet been decided. Emory & Henry College and Hampden-Sydney College remain tied at the top of the conference standings following wins on Saturday. Bridgewater College won its third straight game, and Catholic University picked up its first league victory of the season. SU running back Cedrick Delaney (pictured) and E&H defensive back Roth Healey are the ODAC Players of the Week.

    Week nine of the ODAC Play of the Week fan poll rewards a key special teams play. Bridgewater College wins for the third time this season, ending a four-week hiatus since it last won in week five. Eagles' kick returner Jordan Hartman (pictured) sprinted the length of the field to earn this week's honor.

    The ODAC standings were tied at the top once before, and now they are again. Three teams sit atop the league with 4-1 conference records following Bridgewater's win over Hampden-Sydney. BC is currently not one of those, but Emory & Henry and Guilford both won this weekend to move into a time with H-SC. Randolph-Macon also returned to the win column this weekend. The Players of the Week are R-MC running back John Byrd (pictured) and E&H linebacker Rennel Marshall.

    For the second week in a row, Guilford College came out on top in the ODAC Football Play of the Week fan poll. It marks the Quakers second win overall this season. Running back Josh Schow (pictured) was at the heart of the action with his 62-yard fourth down scamper to pay dirt.

    Just three weeks remain in the NCAA Division III regular season, with several squads within reach of the ODAC title. Hampden-Sydney remains in the drivers seat after winning for a sixth straight time this Saturday. Emory & Henry and Guilford are both just a game back following their sixth victories of the year. And Bridgewater is one of two teams at 2-2 after this weekend's road win. H-SC quarterback Nash Nance (pictured) and E&H defensive back Clint Peregoy earned the weekly honors.

    We have a new winner from our contingent of plays in week seven. Guilford College came out on top, picking up its first win this season and fourth win overall when combined with last season's weekly results. The Quakers' defensive front proved the action in this week's winning play.

    Big performances dotted the box scores throughout week seven as one team took over sole ownership of the top position in the ODAC standings. Hampden-Sydney moved to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in league play to move a game ahead of three others in the league table. Guilford, Shenandoah, and Washington and Lee also posted wins on Saturday afternoon. H-SC receiver Holton Walker (pictured) and W&L linebacker John Carrick earned the ODAC weekly awards.

    Week six featured four different types of plays, but we have a familiar winner for this week's ODAC Football Play of the Week fan poll. Shenandoah University picks up is second win of the season. Defensive back Josh White (pictured) provided the action yet again, returning an interception for a touchdown, marking his second pick-six of the season.

    Week six started with three undefeated teams in the ODAC ranks, but when the final horn blew on the weekend's action, just one remains standing. Emory & Henry sits atop the conference standings after moving to 5-0. Hampden-Sydney also won, keeping pace with the Wasps as both now sit 2-0 in league. Randolph-Macon and Shenandoah both defended their home turfs to move above .500 on the season. H-SC quarterback Nash Nance (pictured) and E&H defensive back Tre'von Lightfoot earned the ODAC's weekly awards.
  • Bridgewater Wins ODAC Football Play of the Week Award

    It took until week five for us to have a repeat winner of the ODAC Football Play of the Week fan poll. Bridgewater College earned the most votes for the second straight week, this time for some late heroics on the offensive side of the football. Eagles running back Jacob Wright (pictured) provided the action with his 47-yard catch-and-run to give the Eagles the lead for good as they went on to win their fourth game of the season.

    All eight conference teams opened the ODAC portions of their schedules in week five, with three squads remaining undefeated. Bridgewater College, Emory & Henry College and Guilford College each moved to 4-0 overall after winning their league openers. Hampden-Sydney College also proved victorious, moving to 3-1. Guilford running back De-Eric Bell (pictured) and defensive back Satiir Stevenson earned the ODAC weekly awards.

    Week four of the ODAC Football Play of the Week fan poll came down to the final minutes, giving us our second extremely tight finish of the season. Bridgewater College, which led early on only to see Emory & Henry College take the lead, made a late push to win for the first time in 2014. Defensive back Darrick Gore (pictured) was at the center of the fireworks for BC.

    Just three teams were in action in week four, and they brought home a trio of wins as all non-conference action is now complete. Bridgewater and Emory & Henry joined Guilford at 3-0 in the overall standings, while Catholic University picked up its second win of the season. Cardinals running back Matt Perno (pictured) and Eagles defensive back Darrick Gore earned the ODAC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards.

    Week three featured four plays in the ODAC Football Play of the Week fan poll, and we've got a first time winner coming thru. Shenandoah University picked up the majority of votes, edging out Guilford College to the final bell for the Hornets' inaugural honor from the poll. ODAC Defensive Player of the Week, Josh White (pictured; #29), was at the center of the action as his interception and return to the three-yard line setup a touchdown for SU.
  • ODAC Spotlight: Matt Pawlowski, Guilford Football

    Guilford College quarterback Matt Pawlowski has won two straight ODAC Football Offensive Player of the Week awards, guiding the Quakers to a 3-0 start. Pawlowski has tossed 14 touchdowns and completed 73-percent of his passes without an interception, ranking in the top-five in NCAA Division III in several categories. He took some time to talk with us in this week's ODAC Spotlight.

    ODAC football teams went 5-1 in week three, with five of the six teams in action completing their non-conference schedules and moving into their scheduled byes in week four. Guilford stayed undefeated, while Catholic, Hampden-Sydney, Randolph-Macon and Shenandoah also posted wins. Quakers quarterback Matt Pawlowski (pictured) picked up his second straight offensive weekly award, while Hornets defensive back Josh White earned the ODAC defensive honor.

    The closest competition in the ODAC Football Play of the Week to-date came down to the final minutes. Emory & Henry College beat Randolph-Macon College by the smallest of margins since the inception of the ODAC fan poll last season, earning the Wasps the week two honor. ODAC Defensive Player of the Week, Roth Healey (pictured), provided the action.
