Guilford Wins ODAC Football Play of the Week Fan Poll

FOREST, Va. --- Fans were treated to four very different plays in the third installment of the 2015 ODAC Football Play of the Week fan poll.  In the end, the double-tipped touchdown reception by Guilford College receiver Adam Smith rose to the top, beating Bridgewater College's punt return to the final bell.

The Quakers were moving in for their fifth touchdown of the day thanks to an efficient, 99-yard drive that started on their own one after a big defensive stand. Matt Pawlowski underthrew a pass towards receiver Daniel Woodruff near the goal line with less than a minute before halftime, but Woodruff could only tip it. Defender Jamal Forney also batted at the ball, which gave Adam Smith the chance to swoop in and unexpectedly snare his career-high-tying third receiving score of the game. The improbable catch set Guilford's career mark for all-time receiving touchdowns (35).

This week's four nominees were viewed more than 1,100 times on YouTube and the ODAC website.  Guilford's improbable touchdown reception garnered 45.6-percent of the vote, besting Bridgewater (26.2%) upon the poll's closing.  Smith's catch was also featured as a finalist for the national play of the week by D3football.com.
