READ THE ODAC FOOTBALL REPORT: WEEK 8

Three of the four teams that won last week picked up victories in week eight. That includes Washington and Lee, which remained undefeated in ODAC play with its home win over Hampden-Sydney. Shenandoah topped visiting Guilford for its third straight victory, while Emory & Henry made it two in a row on the road at Bridgewater. Randolph-Macon returned to the victory column to celebrate Homecoming against Catholic.

THE GAMES

WASHINGTON AND LEE 52, HAMPDEN-SYDNEY 7 -- Box Score
Washington and Lee ran for 566 yards, the second-highest total in ODAC history, to move to 4-0 in conference play with a 52-7 win over Hampden-Sydney. The Generals scored six touchdowns via the ground, while the defense forced six Tigers turnovers to help W&L set a new high mark for margin of victory in its all-time series with H-SC.

SHENANDOAH 33, GUILFORD 28 -- Box Score
Shenandoah trailed Guilford, 28-20, early in the third quarter, but two scores late in the frame provided the margin the Hornets needed in its 33-28 win over the Quakers. SU running back Cedrick Delaney accounted for 295 all-purpose yards, including 205 on the ground.

EMORY & HENRY 42, BRIDGEWATER 33 -- Box Score

RANDOLPH-MACON 21, CATHOLIC 0 -- Box Score
Scoring was at a premium in Ashland on Saturday with neither team moving the scoreboard in the first half. Randolph-Macon got its offense moving in the second half, while the R-MC defense held Catholic to 126 yards of offense and completed its third shutout of the season with a 21-0 victory over the Cardinals.

ODAC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

OFFENSE: Shenandoah University running back Cedrick Delaney, a senior from Manassas, Va., helped lead the Hornets to their third straight ODAC win, which also marked the first time SU has surpassed the four-win mark (now 5-2) under fourth year head coach Scott Yoder. Delaney racked up 295 all-purpose yards in Shenandoah's 33-28 win over Guilford, contributing to the rushing, receiving and kick return units. He led all ODAC rushers in week eight with 205 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. That total includes a long run of 73 yards and a 35-yard touchdown sprint to open the game's scoring.  With Saturday's efforts, Delaney became the Hornets' all-time leading rusher with 3,018 career yards. Against GC, he also caught five passes for 34 yards and added 56 yards on three kick returns.  For the season, Delaney is second in the ODAC with 720 yards and seven touchdowns rushing. He leads the conference with 1,297 all-purpose yards.

DEFENSE: Emory & Henry College sophomore defensive end Davon Keith, a sophomore from Columbia, S.C., helped the Wasps win for the second straight week with a 42-33 result at Bridgewater. Keith was ever-present in the Eagles' backfield, making 6.0 tackles for a loss that cost BC 26 yards of offense. Three of those tackles went down as quarterback sacks, account for 21 of the 26 negative yards. He chipped in four additional quarterback hurries, one of which forced an errant throw that was intercepted and returned for a touchdown. The Wasps' defensive end finished the game with a career-best 14, including 11 solo stops. Keith has racked up 9.5 tackles for a loss the past two contests, helping him to an ODAC-high 18.0 TFLs for the season. His stops behind the line have cost opponents a league-best 85 yards of offense. His 9.5 sacks sit second by a half-sack. Keith has made 46 total tackles on the season.
