ODAC Football Play of the Week Nominees - Week 1

  • ODAC FBALL Play of the Week - Week 01: Bridgewater

With under a minute to play and no timeouts, Bridgewater caught lightening in a bottle on the way to a 27-24 win over Gettysburg. Corey Jochim picked a good time to record his first catch of the game as he pulled in a 5-yard hitch from Brendon Maturey and turned it into a 65-yard game-winning touchdown.

  • ODAC FBALL Play of the Week - Week 01: Guilford

Guilford's big play offense was on display in its 41-24 triumph at Huntingdon. Early in the fourth quarter, Karsten Miller engineered a bit of magic. He eluded the rush in his own end zone and scrambled to his left. He threw against his body some 40 yards to an open Montek Johnson, who took the ball the rest of the way for a 97-yard touchdown play and a 28-17 Quakers advantage.

  • ODAC FBALL Play of the Week - Week 01: Hampden-Sydney

In a tight contest at home, Hampden-Sydney's defense stepped up early in the third quarter. Safety Ryan Mallory turned what looked to be a nice-gaining pass play for Averett into a diving interception for the Tigers' defense. The turnover led to a scoring drive in which H-SC took a 14-10 lead that ultimately resulted in a 20-17 victory.

  • ODAC FBALL Play of the Week - Week 01: Shenandoah

Shenandoah left no doubt about its 40-14 win over Gallaudet to open the season. That effort was aided by Bernie Hayes III, who in addition to spending much of the afternoon in the Bison backfield, put six points on the board. Late in the first quarter, Hayes scooped up an errant toss and sprinted 36 yards to pay-dirt and an early 13-7 lead.
