ODAC Football Play of the Week Nominees - Week 5

  • ODAC Football Play of the Week: Week 5 - Emory & Henry

Emory & Henry needed every score to defeat Washington and Lee on Saturday, and it took just three plays to get the first one. Defensive back Justin Banks put the first points on the board when he stripped a W&L runner at the 27-yard line and burst in for a 7-0 lead on just the third play from scrimmage. Emory & Henry would go on to win, 45-42.

  • ODAC Football Play of the Week: Week 5 - Guilford

Guilford played against its second straight NCAA Division I-FCS opponent on Saturday, but that didn't keep De'Eric Bell from rattling off a long touchdown run and establishing some Quakers' history. Bell scampered 33-yards for this touchdown late in the fourth quarter, his second of the day. It marked the 24th of his career, which makes him Guilford's all-time leader in rushing touchdowns.

  • ODAC Football Play of the Week: Week 5 - Hampden-Sydney

Hampden-Sydney got a little bit of help from all areas of the field in its 37-27 win over Bridgewater. Linebacker Brendan Weinberg turned defensive back for one play in the second quarter of Hampden-Sydney's 37-27 victory over Bridgewater. Weinberg dropped back into coverage and jumped the out route to register his first career interception. He returned it 20 yards to put the Tigers into the red zone.

  • ODAC Football Play of the Week: Week 5 - Randolph-Macon

They always say you should play to the whistle, and that's exactly what Eric Hoy did on this 17-yard catch-and-run. Hoy seemingly was about to be wrapped up short of the end zone, but he rolled over the Shenandoah would-be tackler without touching the ground -- save for his feet -- and continued on to the end zone. The score gave R-MC a 21-16 lead before SU pulled away for a 51-38 victory.

  • ODAC Football Play of the Week: Week 5 - Washington and Lee

Big plays have become a staple of Washington and Lee's high-octane rushing offense. This time, it was quarterback Matt Sgro's turn to headline the highlight reel. On this first quarter rush, Sgro came thru the right side unscathed and was off to the races. After shaking off a would-be tackler at the Emory & Henry 25-yard line, he finished the 76-yard run for a touchdown and a 7-7 tie with E&H early in the first quarter. The Wasps would go on to win, 45-42.
