ODAC Football Play of the Week Nominees - Week 7

  • ODAC FBALL Play of the Week - Week 07: Guilford

After Washington and Lee opened it's largest lead of the game (34-19) early in the 4th quarter, the Quakers needed a spark and De'Eric Bell delivered with an 84-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, his second of the season and his fourth such score of his career. The return moved him into third place on Guilford's career kickoff return yardage list (1553). Including two punt returns for TDs, Bell has returned six kicks for touchdowns in his career.

  • ODAC FBALL Play of the Week - Week 07: Hampden-Sydney

Hampden-Sydney didn't leave much doubt about the result in its 58-28 win over Apprentice School. Receiver Cam Johnson had a lot to do with that as he led all receivers with nine catches for 127 yards and three touchdowns. But it was this 34-yard grab early in the second quarter that might just be his best of the season let alone this game. Johnson laid out as far as he could to haul in an Alec Cobb pass with one-hand. Five plays later, H-SC would make the catch count with a rushing score for a 37-7 lead with 8:18 left in the first half.

  • ODAC FBALL Play of the Week - Week 07: Randolph-Macon

Randolph-Macon may have run for 303 yards in its 52-29 victory over Emory & Henry, but its passing game may provided the biggest play. Late in the first quarter, quarterback Burke Estes took advantage of a bit of mis-direction for a throw-back screen pass to Tre Frederick, who was part of a play-fake off the snap. Frederick, with two blockers in front of him, sprinted 52 yards to paydirt for a 14-3 lead. It was one of two scores for the ODAC's leading rusher on the day.

  • ODAC FBALL Play of the Week - Week 07: Shenandoah

Shenandoah's offense has been stellar all season, but that doesn't mean the Hornets' other units haven't had highlight moments. The special teams got in the act early in the third quarter of SU's 38-20 win over Bridgewater. Casey Stewart broke thru the Eagles' line on a punt attempt and blocked the kick. Nate Hill picked up the loose ball at the 20 and took it 12 yards down to the 8-yard line. It took just one play for SU's offense to punch it in, giving the Hornets' a 17-13 lead it would not relinquish thru the final whistle.

  • ODAC FBALL Play of the Week - Week 07: Washington and Lee

First-year running back Josh Breece had a breakout game in the Generals' 47-26 win over Guilford. He found the end zone four times with this 30-yard burst is final TD rush of the game early in the fourth quarter. After darting thru the middle of the line, it was a sprint for the pylon as he reached out and extended the ball past the goal-line just before going out of bounds for a 34-19 lead with 12:19 to play. He'd finish with a season- and career-best 223 yards on 21 carries, highlighting a W&L ground game that churned out 526 yards.
