FOREST, Va. --- Bridgewater College and Randolph-Macon College combined for 28 all-conference honorees and each took home special individual honors to headline the 2018 All-ODAC Football Awards. The Yellow Jackets garnered a league-high 15 awards in addition to ODAC Coach of the Year laurels for mentor Pedro Arruza and ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete recognition for quarterback Burke Estes. The Eagles secured 13 all-conference honors plus the Lou Wacker Defensive Player of the Year Award for linebacker Re'Shaun Myers.

Shenandoah University quarterback Hayden Bauserman earned his third straight All-ODAC First Team selection on the way to receiving J.Stokely Fulton Offensive Player of the Year distinction from the league's head coaches. Those eight individuals tabbed Hampden-Sydney College running back Kaleb Smith as the ODAC Rookie of the Year.

A little less than half of this season's honorees earned recognition last year with 29 athletes repeating from the 2017 list. That includes 11 members of the 2018 All-ODAC First Team. In addition to SU's Bauserman, five other standouts duplicated their first team efforts. That contingent features Guilford College running back De'Eric Bell, Randolph-Macon linebacker Yonis Blanco and offensive lineman Greg Castle, Hampden-Sydney linebacker Griffin Davis, and Washington and Lee University offensive lineman Mitch Hornsby.

R-MC all-purpose back Eric Hoy, kicker Chris Vidal, and defensive back Anthony Williams moved up from the 2017 All-ODAC Second Team along with Emory & Henry College offensive lineman Tyler Weterrings. H-SC receiver Major Morgan made the leap from last year's All-ODAC Third Team to this season's first team.

Bauserman, a senior from Woodstock, Va., put together a record-breaking season that includes several ODAC single-season passing records that has led to high placements on conference career charts. He is currently the nation's leader in passing yards (3,832), yards per game (383.2), touchdowns (43), completions (355), completions per game (35.5), points responsible for (260), and points responsible for per game (26.0). Bauserman's totals for passing yards, touchdowns, completions, and attempts (555) are all ODAC single-season records. Four times he threw for 400 or more yards including 578 yards and 8 touchdowns against Guilford. The yardage total in that game is fourth-most on the ODAC charts. He is only the second quarterback in ODAC history to throw eight touchdowns in a game, joining former Guilford signal-caller Josh Vogelbach.

When it comes to career records, Bauserman is the all-time ODAC leader with 132 touchdown passes. He is second all-time in passing yards (12,475), completions (1,093), and attempts (1,768). He posted 21 games of 300 yards passing or more, 10 of 400 yards or more, and two of 500-plus yards.

Myers, a junior from Ringgold, Va., led a Bridgewater defensive unit that helped the Eagles secure their first winning season since 2014. The Eagles led the ODAC in defensive yards allowed in both overall (341.0) and conference-only (351.9) categories. Myers led Bridgewater and finished third in the league in all tackle categories with 84 total stops, 55 solo efforts, and 29 assisted tackles. He tied for the team lead and tied for fifth in the league with 9.5 tackles for a loss that cost opponents 52 yards of offense, the third-highest total in the conference. He registered 3.0 sacks and forced and recovered one fumble which he returned 23 yards for a touchdown against Ferrum. Myers had 10 or more tackles in three games played, including a season-high 13 stops (11 solo) with 2.0 for a loss.

Arruza is in his 15th season at Randolph-Macon as the Yellow Jackets prepare to play a second round contest in the NCAA Division III Tournament. This is his third ODAC top coaching honor, joining the awards he earned in 2008 and 2016. Randolph-Macon is currently 9-2 overall, which includes a 6-1 mark in league play on the way to the program's 11th conference crown. The Yellow Jackets have already won one game in the NCAA Tournament, posting a 23-20 result at John Carroll University on November 17. Arruza enters the second round with a career record of 90-63 (.588) including a 55-41 (.573) mark in ODAC play.

Smith, a freshman from Rocky Mount, Va., proved an all-around offensive threat as he adds this award to an All-ODAC Third Team selection. Smith finished seventh in the ODAC with 602 rushing yards on 147 carries, good for 4.1 yards per rush. He posted seven rushing touchdowns. As a receiver, Smith was second in the ODAC with 71 catches for 661 yards and two more touchdowns. He capped the season fourth in the ODAC with 1,263 all-purpose yards at 157.9 per game, which ranks third in the ODAC. Smith's best rushing day came in a 38-35 win over Guilford in which he ran for 214 yards and a touchdown on 30 carries. Three times he caught 11 or more passes, including two 12-catch days. In that game against Guilford, he caught 12 passes for 118 yards.

Estes, a junior from Wilmington, N.C., shines both on and off the field for the Yellow Jackets. In the classroom, Estes maintains a 3.97 grade point average as a business finance major. A two-time member of the ODAC All-Academic Team, he is a multi-honoree on the Randolph-Macon Dean's List.

On the field, Estes keys R-MC's ball-control offense expertly. He is second in the league in completion percentage (141-of-215 | 65.6%) and passing efficiency (148.0). He has tossed 15 touchdown passes and thrown for 1,663 yards. He is also effective with his legs, rushing for 231 yards and four touchdowns so far this season.
