Defensive Player of the Week
Offensive Player of the Week
Daquan Pridget | Shenandoah | So. | Defensive Back
Pridget, a sophomore from Windsor Hill, Md., helped the Hornets to a 48-33 road win at Methodist with three interceptions. It's the first time an ODAC player has picked off three or more passes in a game since W&L's Will Dyson in 2016. Pridget didn't take long to make an impact as he intercepted MU quarterback Steve Keoni on the Monarch's first play from scrimmage to setup the Hornets first touchdown. While his second takeaway didn't setup a touchdown, it averted one as he hauled in a would-be touchdown pass in the SU end zone. Pridget's final interception also came in the red zone at the 8-yard line midway thru the fourth quarter. Pridget added four tackles and a pass breakup to his stat line.
Josh Breece | Washington and Lee | So. | Running Back
Breece, a sophomore from Lorton, Va., picked up right where he left off from his record-breaking rookie season with his schoool-record ninth straight 100-yard effort in a 16-10 overtime road win at Dickinson College. His ninth 100-yard effort breaks a W&L tie with former backs Chris Sullivan and Kevin Weaver. Breece carried the ball 26 times for 122 yards and a pair of touchdowns against the Red Devils. His first score covered 31 yards to put W&L on the board late in the third quarter. His second proved the game-winner as he punched it in from a yard-out on W&L's lone overtime possession. He carried the ball five times on the deciding drive.

NEXT WEEK | vs. Stevenson University (0-1, 0-0 MAC) | 7:00 PM
Bridgewater and Stevenson will play for the first time on Saturday in Bridgewater. The Mustangs are coming off 34-7 season-opening loss to Frostburg State University.

FERRUM opened its 2018 season with its annual Crooked Road Classic against Emory & Henry, but this time it also marked the Panthers first ODAC contest. E&H won 45-29 despite running back Brian Mann setting a new school-record with 257 yards on ground on the way to 280 all-purpose yards. The 257 rushing yards surpassed his own record of 254 yards established in 2016 and equaled in 2017. The offense posted 506 yards from scrimmage, with Zack Clifford throw three touchdown passes. A pair went to Chris Baker, while Nick Pearce pulled in the third. Clifford also ran for 51 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, Taylor Brown and Jaquice Sydnor led with seven tackles each. Brown notched one of two Panther sacks, with the other by Shy Smith. DJ Baylor and Rod Smith intercepted passes.

NEXT WEEK | at Apprentice School (0-1) | 1:00 PM
Ferrum hits the road for a 32nd meeting with Apprentice school, continuing a series that began in 1956. The Panthers own a 22-8-1 advantage in the all-time series that includes a 42-20 last season in Ferrum. The Builders are coming off a 34-13 victory at Greensboro College in their season-opener.

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY dropped a 33-14 non-conference result at Averett in a contest that was pushed back a day due to adverse weather. The Tigers had early leads of 7-0 and 14-12, but the Cougars held them scoreless over the final 38:41 of the contest. Alec Cobb threw for 330 yards and a touchdown to Major Morgan, who hauled in 10 passes for 153 yards on the day. Kaleb Smith caught eight balls for 93 yards. Five turnovers kept the Tigers offense off balance much of the afternoon. Defensively, Ryan Mallory led the unit with 11 tackles and a forced fumble. Riggs Jordan registered nine stops and recovered a fumble.

NEXT WEEK | vs. Christopher Newport University (1-0, 1-0 NJAC) | 1:00 PM

The history between the two schools is even at three wins apiece since 2012, including the Captains 20-7 victory in Newport News last season. CNU is coming off a 38-9 win over Southern Virginia University in its season-opener.

SHENANDOAH shook off three turnovers on the way to a 48-33 season-opening road win at Methodist University. Quarterback Hayden Bauserman started strong with 283 yards and three touchdowns thru the air. Casey Stewart caught two TD passes while Ethan Bigbee pulled in the other. Mario Wisdom and Rashadeen Byrd Jr. ran in one score each. Jalen Hudson added excitement with a 63-yard punt return for a touchdown. Defensively, Daquan Pridget became the first ODAC player since 2016 with three interceptions in a game. He picked the Monarch's first play from scrimmage, hauled in another in the Hornets' end zone, and his third came with MU in the SU's red zone. Nate Hill added to his five-tackle effort with a 100-yard interception return for a touchdown. TJ Heflin and Tyler Williams led the unit with seven tackles each.

NEXT WEEK | vs. N.C. Wesleyan (1-0, 0-0 USAS) | 7:00 PM
Shenandoah opens a five-game homestand against N.C. Wesleyan on Saturday evening, continuing a series that began in 2004. The Battling Bishops own a 7-4 advantage in the all-time series, although the Hornets turned the tables last season with a 61-14 victory in Rocky Mount. N.C Wesleyan enters the game following a 35-28 win over Thomas More in their season-opener.
EMORY & HENRY got its season started on the right foot with a 45-29 road win at new ODAC member Ferrum in their annual Crooked Road Classic game. Hunter Taylor had a strong game as the new Wasps' signal-caller as he shook off two interceptions to throw for 274 yards and a touchdowns as well as run for 105 yards and two more scores. Sam Wagner ran for 87 yards and two more touchdowns. Derrick Yates hauled in six passes for 105 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, Tyler Redmond and Justin Banks led with nine tackles each. Banks registered a TFL as well as an interception. Kash Jones notched a sack while Ivan Phillips and Trel Phillips combined on another. Levi Peters added two tackles for a loss.

NEXT WEEK | vs. Methodist University (0-1, 0-0 USAS) | 7:00 PM
Guilford remains home for a 7:00 p.m. contest against Methodist University on Saturday. The two schools continue a series that began in 1989. Randolph-Macon returns home for a night game against Averett at Day Field. The Yellow Jackets have won each of the previous seven meetings with the Cougars dating back to the first contest in 2011. Averett enters Saturday's game following a 33-14 win over Hampden-Sydney on Sunday.

WASHINGTON AND LEE posted a 16-10 overtime victory at Dickinson on Saturday. The win snapped a 23-game losing streak for W&L in season-opening contests on the road. The last time the Generals won on an opponents' field to begin a campaign was against Towson State in 1969. The win also marked W&L’s first overtime victory since a four-overtime win over Hampden-Sydney during the 2012 season that clinched the ODAC title. W&L is now 3-8 all-time in overtime contests. The Generals also began that 2017 season with an overtime game – a 32-29 loss to Johns Hopkins. Sophomore running back Josh Breece rushed for 122 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries. It was his ninth straight 100-yard rushing effort dating back to last season. That sets a new W&L record, breaking the tie he had held with both Chris Sullivan ’02 and Kevin Weaver ’87. He scored on a 31-yard run in the third quarter and punched in the game-winner from a yard out in overtime. Collin Sherman had 55 yards on 13 carries. Defensively, the Generals limited Dickinson to 140 yards from scrimmage including just 55 yards thru the air. Will Corry highlighted the unit with six tackles including two for a loss and a sack. He also forced a fumble and broke up a pass. Sam Murphy led with eight stops including a sack.

NEXT WEEK | vs. Sewanee (1-0, 0-0) | 2:00 PM

Sewanee enters Saturday afternoon's matchup following a 43-10 win at Kenyon in its home opener.
