MARY McCARTHY, Randolph-Macon, Senior, Attack

McCarthy, a senior from Rixeyville, Va., earns her second weekly award of the season.  McCarthy rattled in the cage four times in the Yellow Jackets 6-1 win over Roanoke on Tuesday. On Saturday, she scored the game tying goal in the 64th minute. Randolph-Macon went on to win in overtime 2-1.  McCarthy leads the team and is tied for second in the ODAC with 15 goals.  She joins teammate Lauren Seal with 32 points, tied for third in the conference.

Field Hockey Honor Roll

Linda Cimini, Eastern Mennonite University, Senior, Attack
Cimini scored in both of EMU’s games this week as the Lady Royals beat a tough St. Mary’s team on the road and nearly upset #8 Christopher Newport. Tuesday at St. Mary’s, Cimini stole a pass and scored on a breakaway to give EMU a 2-0 cushion with 18 minutes left to play.  Saturday the senior again scored the women’s final goal, as she hit the cage in the 49th minute to tie things up at 2-2 against the nationally-ranked Captains.  The Lady Royals eventually lost in double overtime, 3-2.  Cimini is currently third in the ODAC with 14 goals scored and fifth in total points at 30.

Jenny Weir, Lynchburg College, Senior, Attack
Weir had two goals and one assist against Bridgewater College on Friday.  In the process, she set the school record for career assists in that game, now with 42 career helpers.  Weir currently ranks eighth in ODAC history in that category.
