W&L's Peccie Wins Individual Medalist Honor
GREENSBORO, N.C. --- There are three reasons to celebrate ODAC men's golf as a pair of conference teams earned top five honors and a conference student-athlete is a national individual golf champion for the third straight year.
Washington and Lee University and Guilford College completed impressive team showings after four rounds of play at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C. The Generals finished as the runner-up to team champion Methodist University, marking Washington and Lee's best ever showing and the second straight year an ODAC team as earned national second place laurels. That team was Guilford last season as the Quakers backed that up by placing fifth this year, four shots back of W&L and 15 away from Methodist.
Generals' sophomore Brian Peccie needed a few more holes to wrap up the individual medal atop the players leaderboard. Peccie and Logan Young from Concordia University (Texas) were all square thru two extra holes in a downpour before Peccie's par on the par-4 10th hole sealed the national championship.
Peccie is the third straight ODAC golfer to earn medalist honors. Former Virginia Wesleyan University standout Evan Cox won the men's championship in 2018, while Bridgewater College then-junior Christina Herbert hoisted the women's trophy in 2017.

Peccie led a W&L contingent that saw all five players post 20 rounds under 80 on the way to an 18-over 1170 (292-289-292-297) showing. He registered a 3-under par 285 (71-69-69-76) that included three rounds under par. Boyd Peete, who only had three official stroke play rounds on his 2017-18 ledger coming into the championship, responded with four consistent rounds for a 5-over 293 (72-74-73-74) in a tie for 18th overall. Sean Puleo (73-72-79-75) and Luke Farley (76-76-74-73) both tied for 47th at 11-over 299, while Robert Quinilty capped the squad at 13-over 301 (76-74-76-75) in a tie for 54th.
Guilford, which led after both the first and second rounds of action, finished at 22-over 1174 (283-295-298-298). The tournament co-hosts with the Greensboro Sports Commission were led by Josh Hill at 5-over 293 (71-75-75-72) to tied for 18th with Peete. James Mishoe tied for 24th at 6-over 294 (78-71-73-72), while Zach Evens (68-78-74-77) and Kell Graham (70-74-77-77) finished just a stroke apart at 9-over 297 and 10-over 298 in ties for 37th and 44th places, respectively. Addison Manring, who won the ODAC Championship individual medal, completed the Quakers contingent at 21-over 309 (74-75-76-84) and a tie for 79th.
Methodist's five-man team capped its four-day journey at 7-over 1159 (294-287-282-296) to win by 11 strokes over Washington and Lee. Three Monarch's placed inside the top-30, including Dan Shepherd in a tie for third at 2-under 286 (72-72-69-73).
Young, Peccie's playoff counterpart, carded his 3-under 285 total with rounds of 72,69, 73, and 71.
