GREENSBORO, N.C. --- Guilford College and the Athletic Department are happy to introduce Allen Smith as the new Men's Golf head coach.
"Throughout our search process, Coach Smith impressed us with his passion for golf and the opportunities available for our student-athletes," Athletic Director Bill Foti commented. "Our search committee is confident we have hired the next great golf coach at Guilford. One that understands and embraces the legacy of excellence that defines Guilford golf."
Smith joins the Quaker staff after spending the past two years as an assistant coach at Old Dominion Athletic Conference member, University of Lynchburg. During his time with the Hornets, he helped with the recruiting process while also maintaining communication with the alumni base.
"I am beyond excited to be the next head golf coach at Guilford College and am very thankful for the opportunity," Smith said. "The program has a rich winning history and I am looking forward to continuing its success."
The Durham, North Carolina native played collegiately at fellow ODAC institution, Hampden-Sydney. During his four years with the Tigers, he was a three-time member of the All-ODAC Second Team while being named ODAC Co-Rookie of the Year for 2017-18. He was also a three-time member of the ODAC All-Academic Team while also earning Division III Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-American Scholar in 2019-20.
Smith recently completed his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Lynchburg. In 2021, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Hampden-Sydney College.
