Anguera, a sophomore from Lynchburg, Va., won his first collegiate tournament on Monday, as he shot a 75 in the final round to tie for the top spot with Averett University’s Andrew Tilley. Anguera fired a 74 first round to trail the leader by two shots, but stayed in contention with his second round effort. Also, he led the Hornet white team to a third place finish, as they fired a 55-over 631 for the tournament.
Golf Honor Roll
Mike Redwood, Bridgewater, Junior
Redwood was Bridgewater’s leader in the clubhouse at
this past weekend’s Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational as
the Virginia Beach, Va. native posted a final score of +7 to finish
in a tie for 12th overall. Redwood led Bridgewater to a
ninth place finish at the highly competitive tournament.
Brandon Ketron, Roanoke, Sophomore
Ketron tied for 12th in at Jekyll Island by posting a
7-over-par 223. He fired rounds of 74-72-77 in leading the
Maroons to a 15th place team finish (+57 - 921).
Tim Gavrich, Washington and Lee, Junior
Gavrich helped lead the Generals to a tie for
13th place at the Jekyll Island Collegiate over the
weekend by shooting a 74-76-79—229 (+13). He tied with
senior Robert Womble for the team’s top score and through 13
rounds this season, Gavrich ranks second on the team with a 77.7
scoring average.
